Seth and Sophia were friends and workout buddies before they took their friendship to the next level, but they are both afraid to commit more. One night changes everything for them and now they have to learn to work as a team to get what they both deserve. Both are fighting their own insecurities and concerns over their future together when they have to face their biggest demon together.
The story includes glimpses into favorite characters from Brave Brave: A Contemporary MMA Romance (Oni Fighters Book 1) and Believe Believe: A Contemporary MMA Romance: Oni Fighters Book 2 and doesn’t leave you hanging on a cliff. Can’t wait for the rest of the series!
When Seth Harris and Sophia Sommers went from friends to lovers, they both thought they were on the same page. They could be friends while setting the sheets on fire, what could go wrong? Well, anything and everything of course! When a devastating accident tests their faith in themselves and their relationship, they both are going to go through the wringer to make things right again.
Each character in this series is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. What works so well is the pairing of each, finding those core traits that make each couple work so well. When one pulls back and the other pushes forward, there has to be something special to keep them coming back for more. That is very much in evidence with Seth and Sophia.
If things are complicated when all is going well, imagine how messy it can get when all goes sideways. And that is definitely what happened to Seth and Sophia. They are fighters, in the ring and out of it, and the spirit that drives them is needed in spades. When things get serious, they seem ill-prepared but rely on that spirit to keep them afloat through it all. Health issues, d***head boss troubles, family (oh gawd the family) there is a lot going on and the ride was as wonderful as I’d hoped! The emotions that they go through, as they begin to rely on each other for much more than good sex (and it is very good), had me riding their wave right along with them.
With an ensemble ending that spoke directly to my heart, I’m thrilled there are going to be more Fighters!
“You just had to be brave, believe in yourself, and accept the challenge.”
And that’s one of the hardest thing of all, isn’t it?

The whole Oni Fighters series is great, Seth and Sophia's story was just a little more special.
Natalie Gayle is fast becoming one of my one click authors.
Challenge is the third book in the Onigashima series by Natalie Gayle. I'd recommend reading them in order so that you will understand the dojo and the main characters.
How can one night of drinking and hot sex with best friend (with benefits) go so wrong afterwards? For Seth and Sophia it did leaving one of them in a coma fighting for their life afterwards. Seth is a playboy whom Sophia knows from the Onigashima dojo, where she trains and her sister but he doesn't get close to anyone. But one night together changes everything and leads them to recover from an accident, training for a MMA women's fight and find out that their one night of sex will give them a treasure they will hold close to their hearts.
Seth will also learn that his family has several secrets that include his father which is why he always felt unloved by his parents. But Sophia will learn how strong she is when she needs to make a difficult decision and Seth will be there by her side supporting both of them. The Onigashima group of friends will become the family who will also support both of them. I really loved the nurse, Nancy, who took care of Seth during his long recovery and plays a special part in the ending for both of them. But its the family of MMA fighters and their love for each other that has this book earning all 5 stars and more. Challenge is a fantastic, heart tugging, finish to the series.
