1) Kissing a patient the day you meet him IN HIS HOSPITAL room is a HUGE moral and ethical issue. You WILL absolutely lose your medical license. That is sexual harassment just like if a male were to take advantage of a vulnerable female patient. That is not sexy, its weak minded and stupid. All she had to do was NOT scrub into the surgery, but we are supposed to believe that one surgery makes or break your career. This isn't like writing a book on amazon or something, its actually a lifetime career. All she had to do was say, I have a personal interest in this patient, so I am just going to observe, not scrub in. There are laws about treating such people. She would go to JAIL not just get suspended.
2) You can write medical article by just observing with your attending, and NO case report mentions patients name so you actually dont need a waiver to write an article about a procedure. Why would you even mention it.
3) I almost vomitted when she kisses and sleeps with her patient in the hospital yet an ATTENDING using her first name "is pushing professional boundaries." There is nothing remotely pleasing about an emotionally stunted, whiny chick who the author was like, hey I like this episode of greys anatomy, what if I write a book about what its like. This is something some of us go to school/training for 13 years to be able to do. We know how to handle things like emotions without doing illegal, unethical, immoral things.
4) I would have had a lot more respect if she had lost her job, her license, and decided to do research or something because there is no way if a female doctor slept with her patient and the media found out about it, in this day in age, she wouldnt get ANNIHILATED and the rest of us would have had to suffer too.
What a waste of my time.
Indie is basically a child prodigy and at age 24 she's already in her2nd year of Residency. Because of her intelligence and a less than warm and loving family, she's pretty much a loner and really hasn't experienced, in every sense of the word, a fun and free living life; she studied, studied and studied more because of this. Camden on the other hand is one of the star footballers aiming at getting a Premier contract. He's tall, sexy, gorgeous, knows what to do between the sheets and is basically a manw**re!!!
Right off the bat I fell in love with Indie and her innocence that she's trying to get over and just "live" for once. With the help of her best and only friend Belle, they come up with the most hilarious Penis List and each level was meant to accomplish various sexual conquests for a lack of better words. Luckily I wasn't drinking anything when I read this because I actually snort laughed!
Now to the heart of the book, Cam ends up in the hospital Indie is doing her residency in with a major injury that could be a career ender and their attraction is pretty immediate. Camden's not sure what to do with these feelings and Indie is scared because her attraction to him is crossing the line seeing as she's one of the doctors operating on him, but what Cam wants, Cam gets and I cheered for these two when Indie decided to listen to her heart instead of her brain aka Tequila Sunrise.... but it's not as simple as that, because what fun would that be?
These two danced around each other so fabulously. The pull they have towards each other is strong, and Cam, is really not as tough on the inside that he appears on the outside. While his feelings for Indie somewhat confuse him, the fact that he admits he has the feelings, put such a big smile on my face and made me swoon that much more....
"Her smile makes me smile."
While this means something when they're exploring what is between them and talk about heating up the sheets!!! Here's the thing though, Indie has never really experienced the feelings she was beginning to have for Cam. She's never truly been loved by anyone and that damages someone more than we can even imagine. My heart was weeping for her because as much as she wanted Cam and for him to not only be Penis number 1, but also numbers 2 and 3, she doesn't think she's worthy of it.
What these two have to overcome to get to their forever was as wild as a championship game. The emotions poured out of me from happy, to sad, to irritated that these two couldn't see what was right in front of them thanks to more than equal levels of stubbornness, to a rip in my heart when emotions they've both had to face, to ultimately the biggest smile on my face when I flipped that last page.
As much as this is a sports romance, it's so much more and Ms. Daws does it so beautifully. Her words grabbed me right from the start and I was so sad to see the story end. But I know we're going to get more of Cam and Indie when she writes the next Harris Brothers book, which I hope is Tanner's book cuz there's something brewing between him and Belle!!!!

I don't know if it was the audio version that had me laughing out loud, the way the narrator gave Cam the Cheekie chappie cockney character but I loved it and it would be interesting to see if reading the book would have the same effect.
The story though was great. Camden Harris is a rising star in British football, at a pinnacle in his career but an injury on the field results in a trip to the ER and in need of an operation.
Indie is the Doctor on duty when Cam is brought in, Cam on pain drugs and high thinks he is seeing a red-headed angel. Cam is charming, funny, cheeky and full of innuendoes. I loved his character.
Indi is a virgin and has a penis list that she drafted up with her friend, she is very specific of who she wants to lose her virginity to and eventually work through the list.
P 1 would be a player, a bad boy...
P 2 would be a romantic guy.
P 3 would be a mixture of P#1 & 2.
Personally, I didn't get the penis list, I thought it was silly for a 24-year-old to have such a list but it was a big part of the plot due to Indie pulling away from Cam wanting to carry on with her penis adventures before settling down.
There was a constant push and pull with the characters mainly on Indie's part, the girl just didn't know what she wanted or knew how to show her feelings so often coming across as cold.
Camden had been brought up in a big family where he had the love of his brothers, sister, and dad, indie, however, had no-one and this caring and showing emotion was a whole new concept for Indie.
In summary, Challenge is a great story, a lighthearted read that had hotness, laughter and a cheeky footballer who went from playboy to a one-woman man.
I will definitely listen to the next book in the series, the Harris brothers are so likable and funny i have already downloaded Keeper and plan on reading Endurance.
Recommended British sports romance and Audio
Indie is taken aback when she first meets Camden Harris. As he is wheeled into the hospital, after a match injury Indie is stunned at how attracted she is to this soaking wet and scruffy footballer! The air is electric between them.
A really good story of Indie learning all about herself, and what life could look like if she took the risk.
The way the author described the footballer being taken to A and E in a flashing blue ambulance for a leg injury....the way they burrowed him away in the intensive care unit- none of it seemed plausible- and i do like reality in my fiction!
So I decided i wasn't going to finish it- but I kept seeing all the buzz about Amy Daws new book that was being released that was the conclusion to this series so I picked it back up....
And it was like I was reading a totally different story- once i got past the annoying beginning I was left with a really witty hot story that I actually couldn't put down!
Once Indie and Camden were out of the hospital setting I really started to fall hard and deep for Camden and his sweet family- So much as what I thought would just be a DNF has quickly morphed into one of the best books I've read in this genre- so much so I've already bought and read book 2 and I'm a third through book 3!
I can't give this book 5 stars though- purely down to the beginning- but I've rounded it up to 4.
This had a good beginning, I was straight in. It was very readable, it made me want to read on. And like at 2 o'clock in the morning! It was very refreshing that one of the main characters in an adult romance novel was a virgin. I couldn't have predicted that!
I love the different voices for the different chapters: Camden/Indie alternate chapters. I can see this will work very well in audio with dual narration again as she used for ‘That One Moment’. This quickly became a very entertaining read with the will they/won't they, sexual tension. The medical stuff was interesting, I love stuff like this, conditions and procedures I don't already know about.
These books are so much more. They're not just romance books. They’re much more substantial. Many different issues are explored. All very real things that happen to people all the time-but still surprising, not predicable in any way. Plenty of excellent dialogue and you really feel what the characters are feeling. Amy's books have it all from the highest of emotions to the lowest. You become totally engrossed in their lives and that's why you just have to read each next book in the series. I felt this could be a very interesting angle: Indie's parents are both archaeologists! That's right up my street-that could provide scope for another book in the series? Time Team comes to London Lovers!
This series is so interesting-they’re not just fluffy romance/erotic-these are made more interesting with all the thought she puts into her characters, their backgrounds, interesting jobs etc. I love these books! And ooh-Yorkshire got a mention!!!! Amy Daws has done it again: created a story you just want to read and read.
The 6th book in the series-would it get a bit samey? Absolutely not! Would it get a bit stale-it certainly wasn't!!! Amy still has mountains of ideas and each book comes up fresh every time. This book seemed to happen so quickly after That One Moment-I was hoping she hadn't rushed it out and that it would have that same magic. It more than had!!!
I felt that there was a bit more bedroom action in this one. It wasn’t my most favourite in the series but they’re all good and I still loved it. I just think that; even though you can read them in any order, a reader new to Amy’s books, and perhaps starting with this one, might get the wrong idea about the rest of the books. I think they have a bit of everything and this one was more focused on love story and sex scenes. I still enjoyed it as I have all of her other books and will be reading any more she writes. The twin thing can be an interesting angle in a book. It thought it would be interesting to see how things turn out in here-I was expecting her to do something with this but it didn’t happen. Not yet-maybe it could in the future.
Just a few little niggles-although this series is amazing to say this author is American yet writing about characters living in London, England: OR-in England we say operating theatre or just theatre. We don’t say intern-our equivalents are house officer/senior house officer etc. We would never say physical therapist-it’s physiotherapist or just physio. These are just a few things that could have been picked up eg. by a few more British beta readers? Still loved it and I can’t wait for the next!
