Update: This June 2018 saw a big storm come through our state . Power was knocked out. Pulled the generator out of the garage. Hooked it up to propane and we were up and running. It has been over 90 degrees here and this generator allowed us to continue our lives comfortably. We even watched out dish tv. All other houses on our block were dark. As far as I am concerned it has paid for its self already. I plan on purchasing one for each of my sons and their homes as well. Well worth the money.
My issue with it is the placement of the oil filler. As a 67 year old woman, standing on my head to get .6 of a quart of oil in was a royal pain in my behind, my back, my knees. There really is no good reason the filler is not extended far enough that it can be reached easier. I dread having to drain the oil after the five hour trial run.
And I fault the manufacturer for not packaging them for bumps and bashes. There are two dents in the frame. The 90 pound compressor I bought was packaged more securely with styro protecting the corners and bottom.
Update: Dec 2019 Saw what looked like oil on the garage floor under the generator. I checked, it is leaking even though it's not being used. It might be coming from the oil filler, cleaned it all off and waiting to see if it continues.
The unit is not overfilled so the question is, is it due to the hot/cold cycles here in the south?
04/20/2020 I go to use the unit during a power outage. There is no output. Now they're sending instructions for me to take things off the machine and disconnect wires looking for something that isn't working properly. I'm truly not happy with this situation. If a never used past testing unit isn't functioning what does that foretell for the future?
