My opinion would be to try to find these locally so you can compare to a more standard handle.
One of two boxes was destroyed in shipping (dumbbell was actually sitting on top of a ripped up box when I got home), but the weight was without a scratch, so I wouldn't really hold that against it.
As an alternative, I purchased a full set of Cap Barbell Solid Hex Single Dumbbell's which I purchased locally for the same price as these Champion dumbbells.
None of the 5 star reviews are wrong, and the value is there. I just wanted to add that the handles which are designed to improve grip / comfort aren't necessarily suited for everybody.
They work great, and I'm getting the 20lbs soon!
The packaging was completely destroyed when they arrived. I literally pulled the weights out of the cardboard boxes without a tear or cut. I just reached in through large box holes and pulled them out. The weights had chips all over. Appearance isn't too important, but when you pay for something that is used you still expect a notice or warning that you are getting something used.
The weights look like a high school kid repaired them in shop class. There is lots of extra and malformed materials all around where the weight meets the handles.
There are also chips of excess material that isn't well filed around the hand-grips. Of all the problems, this is the worst as it actually causes pain on the heavier weights. I'll have to file it down myself and wear gloves to be able to use these.
Sadly, I wasn't expecting much, but was still pretty disappointed.
If it helps, I bought 2, 25 pound weights.
The good is that this is one of the better prices I've seen. The bad? According to a quick Google search, steel is $0.13 a lb. These dumbbells are $1/lb. The ergonomics are great, but the build quality is poor. There are unfiled edges...enough that they could cut skin. There's a layer of enamel keeping it from rusting. It is thinner than the cap dumbbells. However, if your wears down, it's easily fixed with some spray paint. Whoever the manufacturer is, they did a poor job casting these.
* nice ergonomics
* cheaper than anyone else is selling these for
* poor manufacturing
* still expensive
* Amazon could do a better job informing folks they're only buying one dumbbell and not a pair.

the barbell itself is ok, but the description did not say it is single. I would not have bought it if I knew.Published 6 days ago by Ori
They are simple weights that will do the job but are shorter than my other barbells and barely fit on the rack. Read morePublished 18 days ago by Steven
I just received the two 15lb Dumbbells I ordered. One is as expected, the other is of cheaper construction and the grip is flat, not ergonomic. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer

ONE dumbbell. I failed to consider that dumbbells wouldn't be sold in pairs. Usually they are but not here. This is my fault for not reading. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
