Champion Household Juicer 2000 PLUS G5-NG-853S Features & SpecificationsChampion Household Juicer 2000 PLUS G5-NG-853S - BLACK MODEL The Champion Juicer comes inBlack,Silver,Almond andWhiteThe Champion Household 2000+ is a veteran to the juicing market. Champion has been around for over 20 years and we have clients who still rave about their juicer. This is build of a powerful 1/3 horsepower heavy duty GE motor. The large 1.75" diameter feeding tube allows it to take in larger vegetables without cutting them. The floating cutter is designed to separate the juice from the pulp all in one continuous operation with little to no intermittent cleaning. The blades are made of tempered stainless steel that are cast into the cutter for strength and years of use. They never separate or rust! The Champion is also a very versatile machine and can juice all types of fruits and vegetables, but cannot juice wheatgrass. If you are looking for a wheatgrass juicer that can also do fruits and vegetables, 877MyJuicer.com recommends theLexen Electric Healthy Juicer. The Champion household is great for those juicing once to a few times a day. If you are needing more than that, we suggest theChampion Commercial (G5-PG-710). I've had a Champion juicer, essentially this same model, for about fifteen years. How's it work? It's a workhorse: Basically a huge electric motor, and you attach the masticator (a system of grinding blades) to the axle / shaft that comes out of the motor. There's a cover that goes over that, a wooden push-rod, and at the bottom, a screen that slides in place under a cover. The screen can be fine, or coarser. It goes and goes. This isn't one of the centrifugal juicers that produces ultra-fine juice; what this does it make it possible to process 150 pounds of tomatoes into juice and pulp (the pulp has to go into a handy bowl, the juice into another -- a little awkward, but you figure it out). My family and I then take the juice and put it onto the stove and cook it down to sauce. Handy, indeed.

You can do the same for carrots, cucumbers, you name it, to make into juice and drink raw. This is great for raw food folks (I'm not one, especially, but I like my vegetable and fruit juices, and this makes consuming them easy). Lettuce and greens can go in too; apples go in, quartered -- although not strictly advisable, I let the seeds go through, too; they get spat out the other end, and the juice is clean and tasty. And it goes and goes ... you get the idea.

Only problem is the plastic parts. Use the Champion juicer a whole lot, and eventually the plastic starts to go. I killed off the funnel-hopper (cracked) -- but that's easy to replace on-line from Champion or through Amazon. You do need to remember to put some vegetable shortening on the shaft or it can be a real bugger to get the macerating blade removed where it slips onto the shaft -- I've killed a couple of knives trying to lever the blade off, which is necessary for cleaning.

Gucci-styled it's not.

After all the hype since "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" I started to research juicers. I decided against getting centrifugal one. I've had 4 of them in the past 35 years. I recently tried 2 masticating juicers which are being so highly recommended, but returned them. I got sick of thick pulp, clogging, and getting shocked, plus I didn't like the plastic bodies. Long story short: I got this machine, and it is a quality powerhouse. It masticates, and is heavy and very well made, with a powerful motor. This is an American made product which has been a leader in quality juicers for over 50 years. No hype needed. It's recommended by Dr Richard Schulze, and Gerson Institute. I trusted them for the recommendation and am glad I did. I park here with this juicer, because I am truly satisfied.

I have only had the Champion household juicer for about a month now but am using it daily and really like it! We have tried many different fruits and veggie drinks with much success. I usually make juice for the four of us every morning, and my kids love waking up to fresh tasty juices. We also have made sorbets for dessert--yum! My only negative experience so far is that while trying to make almond meal, the motor really heated up and started to smell. The heat from the motor affected the flavor of the small amount of almond paste I did create. I haven't tried any other nuts for fear of burning out the motor. If you mainly want great tasting fruit and vegetable juice, I would highly recommend it!

Just got my Champion juicer so this is just my initial impression. I used a Breville juicer before. Towards the end of its life, it leaked alot of juice and required alot of fruits and vegetables to create a small amount of juice. It did not juice greens well. I am particularly impressed by this Champion juicer. Right out of the box, it is heavy and sturdy. It reminds me of my grandmother's iron sewing machine. I got an exceptional amount of juice out of a very little amount of fruits and vegetables. The manual recommends running through the extract again, which I never thought to do. So there is very little waste left over. I put through carrots, pears, apples, celery, cucumbers, spinach and tomatoes through with no problem. I did notice the celery string wound around the cutter, though when I tried cleaning it. However, it is really easy to clean.

You do need to get a few things. You'll need a brush to clean. That came with the Breville. You'll need a bottle brush. Also need a screwdriver to pop off the cutter, which is a little unexpected.

I am looking forward to continued use of my Champion juicer.

30 years ago, I purchased my first Champion Juicer - for $400.00.
I just purchased my second one - with 2 added attachments - for only
$230.00, and I couldn't be happier. The difference most people haven't
been taught is this: all other juicers 'centrifuge' the veggies, reversing
the ions in the juice - not recommended by nutritionists. The Champion
Juicer only GRINDS veggies, leaving the ions in their natural state -
extremely more beneficial with no adverse effects on the juice's ions.
I highly recommend the Champion juicer, and I'm glad to have found it
available AT A MUCH LOWER COST AFTER 30 YEARS!

If you are going to juice fruits, or vegetables that are inflexible and contain a lot of juice (carrots, cucumbers, for example) perhaps you will find the Champion to be adequate. Anyone who wants to do a lot of spinach, kale, parsely, celery, cabbage,or other fibrous vegetables that are fairly flexible will find that the Champion is very inclined to get clogged within about 30 seconds of introducing these vegetables. You will be forced to push and push with the tamper, and probably turn the machine off and open it up, to find a solid green mush clogging the mouth of the machine, the blade and every millimeter of the interior. It is an immovable mass. Water running through it doesn't help to any significant degree. It defeats the idea of producing the least heated juice, as this tendency makes for lukewarm or warm juice.

Also, the assembly and cleaning are much more complex than other juicers. No other juicer that I've owned handled greens poorly.
