It is easy on and off. Will protect the gene from weather and too much AZ sunshine when not in use.
Not intended for long term outdoor protection. But excellent for keeping the generator clean between uses.
backup in case the 'big one' hits. we're in seattle and the big one will definitely hit in the next couple hundred years.
therein lies the question. Do i start up and test the generator and then have to fire it up every month to keep it in tip top shape or do i not
start up the generator and do not have to maintain it every month. This question comes up for emergency back up devices because I had
one, once before, and it sat for over ten years not being tested or started. Fortunately, there were no emergencies. But, at the end of ten years,
i kind of worried that maybe the moisture in the ambient air had rusted the piston. Thus, i tossed it.
So, for this one, I actually wanted to do the right thing...... keep it in good shape but not have to fire it up every month.
So, i emailed the Champion folks and they were very very understanding and thoughtful about their answer which was to not
start it up, rely on their quality control that it will start if i ever need it, and every six months, put a dropper full of oil in the
cylinder via the spark plug hole.
So, i cannot attest to whether this is a great product although the construction is very solid. I can attest to the quality of the Champion people
in working with me to figure out the right way to deal with an emergency back up generator.
I guess there is no right answer for everyone on this but i am going to trust their product, put a couple of drops of oil in the cylinder, and pray that the big one doesn't hit (oh, wait, we have earthquake insurance and a huge supply of jack daniels.......bring it on!!.)
