Review: Detective Pete Crane's attraction toNikki Harper might be toe curling, but he is over ten years her senior, she ispractically the Chief's own daughter, and totally off limits. Now witness to amurder, Nikki is under Pete's protection until he can solve the case. I boughtinto the sudden love with blossomed between colleagues in the middle of ashooting and was sucked into the fast-paced, intense story. Even though thepages are once again filled with authentic police banter, dead bodies andyellow crime tape, think of this as not really a romantic suspense but aromance story involving a cop who happens to be solving a case. Theinvestigation is there and clearer, simpler than the first book, but just asbefore the true hero of this book is the love story, not any crime fiction.
A definiteimprovement in the writing from the previous book, this is a standalone yetwith a nice continuation of the same strong, confident loveable characters. Inshort, this is a great example of why I love reading books in a series. Steamy, heartwarming, real and exciting in all the right way and places, I am glad tohave my own chance collision with this book and look forward to any other bookby the same author. Due to explicit sexual content (also includes oral sex) Irecommend this for adults only.
