Melany was such a fun character and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know every facet of this quirky, anxious and incredibly kind woman. Jessica Prince did a fantastic job unraveling her, portraying Melany’s flaws and fears with grace and sensitivity. I appreciated how genuine her insecurities felt and I found myself drawn to this heroine and connecting to her pain. There was also something so beautifully light about Melany that made me smile and left me laughing on more than one occasion. Watching her learn to embrace the awkwardness and live life through the fear filled me with an overwhelming sense of contentment.
Chance, on the other hand, was every bit the smart, charming book boyfriend I thought he’d be and then some. Admittedly, I wanted a bit more depth from this character, hoping that in finally finding his happily ever after, the reader might get to explore Chance’s past and family history in order to better understand what made this hero tick. He seemed so perfect that I wanted Chance to feel flawed and more relatable. Despite this missing piece of the puzzle, I still swooned. Chance’s role in Melany’s character growth left me a pile of mush while his unique brand of protective and possessive ensured I fell hard and irrevocably.
While Chance Encounters definitely stands on its own, I was happy to see so many familiar faces from The Locklaine Boys series. I loved how easily Chance and Melany seemed to fit within that fictional world and Jessica Prince certainly captured all of the magic and memories that went along with that unforgettable family. The storyline was fun, sexy and utterly sweet – the perfect combination of humor, heat and heart. Jessica Prince knows how to entertain and Melany’s personal journey was enough to keep me voraciously turning the pages. As sad as I am to see these characters go, I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next. Chance Encounters is the perfect example of everything Jessica Prince has to offer and Melany and Chance are absolutely worth the one-click!
This is the story of Chance Hoffman and Melany Fitzgerald. If you have read Ms. Prince’s other series then you know all about Chance—if not, then don’t worry you will get to know him and fall in love with him in this book. Chance is the poor soul who has been unlucky in love --He is always in the dreaded friend-zone but he takes it on the shoulder and takes it well. Chance is a sexy attorney who is just waiting for Ms. Right. He comes across as sweet, romantic and a man that woman would want to be with. The moment he meets Melany he feels there is more to her than comes across but feels that he will get –yet again—put in the friend zone. He meets her his ex’s engagement party where she comes off as this slightly awkward woman. He likes her and wants to help her figure out who she really is instead of what she thinks she is.
Melany has had a really rough life. You name it, its happened. My heart went out to her and I wanted to hug her tight. Because of the life she has had, she doesn’t talk to really anyone and is withdrawn yet she yearns to connect and make friends yet she doesn’t know how. She ends up meeting Chance and they develop this friendship. Chance sees something in Melany that calls out to him and endears her to him and from there this story really gets going.
Also, we see characters from previous books we have met before and how their relationships are going
There is drama, angst, discovery, heartbreak, joy and above all love. This is a beautiful tale about how love does come out a winner and how the good guy gets the girl. I loved reading Chance & Melany’s story –it is great and there will be a few times that you will yell at your Kindle but the ending makes up for the times you yell at the characters. I loved it!
