I loved the story and was totally captivated. The story made me want to become a party planner for the romance that it brings - and I am an auditor, not very romantic. The doctor was a great addition. The best for me was that the writing made me want more. I can't wait to continue reading Sandra's work.
He insists on staying with her overnight to monitor her concussion and the more time he spends with her, he realizes that he’s extremely attracted to Charlene. But sabotaging a budding romance are Charlene’s insecurities. Surely such a handsome, sexy doctor couldn’t want anything to do with a curvy girl like herself. Martin’s staunch refusal to take advantage of her weakened condition serves to confirm her dark thoughts about herself.
Kerns does a terrific job weaving interesting characters and an exciting plot. As the action moves along, we discover that the attack might not have been as random as it first seemed. And I love the romantic way she builds the sexual tension as the story unfolds.
Great book, highly recommended!
I found it to be uniquely unusual in the way that Charlene and Martin meet. Much of their traditional romance, I saw coming after the initial meeting. Their romance is a smoother journey than her work and her family’s relationships which is where the real dilemmas stem.
Charlene and Martin are not so different so they fit together rather well. I found them to make a charming couple but it is Cameron that steals every scene he is in. This little six-pound character keeps the story light and fun, making it a perfect Valentine read.
The author provided a copy for an honest review.
Charlene is a successful independent woman who runs her own business. I felt she was self conscious about her curvy figure because she wouldn't believe a handsome man could be truly into her.
Martin is a handsome doctor that only wants to help people. Yes, it's true, we finally have a leading man in a romance that is purely good inside and out! As much as I love a good "bad boy" or "troubled soul" in a story, Martin definitely set some new standards!
Martin, being the good doctor that he is, takes care of Charlene in spite of her protests, while he has some decisions to make of his own, to go back overseas or stay, setting this beautiful story in motion.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have to be honest and say that my favorite character in this novella was Cameron, the dog. For me, the small canine added an element of cuteness. I felt myself smiling every time I read about him.
The other main characters are Charlene, a busy event planner, and Martin, a doctor. They meet (by chance, of course) when Martin flies into the Denver, Colorado airport. The first event he witnesses is Charlene being attacked. That’s the initial point of suspense: who hit her over the head, and why?
There are two other important figures: Martin’s sister, Millie, is a detective who takes on Charlene’s case. Charlene’s sister, Deirdre, is newly engaged. She wants her sister to plan her wedding.
How will all the pieces fit together? Can Martin and the insecure Charlene find lasting happiness together? Get these and other questions answered when you read this fun novella.
