Chance is a top International Bull Rider but his last accident has ended his career. He has been getting tired of all glitz of competing and this accident has caused him to rethink his priorities. Chance advertises for a ranch manager to help him with his ranch since he is still recovering. Well, it was more like a mail order bride that could also run the ranch.
Callie's parent died in an accident and left her and her sisters with a mountain of debt. She accepts Chance's offer of ranch manager and agrees to marry him. The contract is for at least one year or two.
When Chance and Callie meet they are both immediately attracted to each other. Will their attraction turn their marriage into a real marriage or will it end when the contract time is up?
This is a sweet and steamy romance with lots of obstacles that get in Chance and Callie's. I enjoyed their story. Chance and Callie are perfect for each.
FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Callie & Chance did what they had to do in order to protect their siblings. I loved the character of Callie right from the start. She moved 1/2 way around the world to marry a man she'd never even met. That alone takes guts. And even though there were times of doubt, she never backed down like most women might have done. She spoke her mind, too. When Chance's brother started in on her, she didn't wait for Chance to protect her, no...she got right in his face and gave it to him a piece of her mind.
I like Chance too. It took him a while to figure out what he wanted, but when he did...he went after it for all he was worth. And when a few stumbling blocks were thrown in his way....he just plowed through them all. At least he had an open mind when it came to women being able to do a man's work, and I truly admired that trait. And even though he could have forced Callie to comply with the contract agreement from day one, he didn't push the issue, which I thought turned out better for the both of them in the end results.
Of to start book #2
The storyline was good but I have to be honest and tell you I have a real problem with manwhores and Chance Watson was one. He spent twelve years on the rodeo circuit and he got around plenty. I also struggled with the concept that after Chance finds the love of his life and is settling into marriage an ex comes along with deceit on her mind to steal him away...trap him if you will. I don't feel like there was a solid conclusion to the dilemma which left me wondering, is she or isn't she? That troubled me and I felt I was left drawing my own conclusion. Since this ex didn't show up in book two I am assuming she was lying. Those issues may not bother you but they certainly bug the heck out of me.
The gal he chooses to marry comes from Australia for a two-fold reason. She's going to be the new ranch manager and his wife for one year! I loved how well she did on the ranch. She has chosen to do this because her parents died and left her with an enormous debt even after the bank took everything. First of all that isn't how things are done in the US but maybe so in Australia.
Good read that I definitely recommend.
