There is somewhat of a parallel of this story and that of Antwon's Fisher's, as told in "Finding Fish", especially of the father's family. Both Steve and Antwone were raised within blocks of their father's relatives (who would have rescued the child) yet never knew until adulthood. This is a book I highly recommend and feel it should be required reading for all who work in the foster care system.
read it in 2 days!
This is the story of Steve Pemberton and as he tells it you
feel as though he is talking directly to you.
I could almost feel his pain and strong desire to connect
with his family.
It is a true story of resiliency and how one child overcame
Incredible obstacles and therefore very inspiring.
I was drawn into the twists and turns of this story which
at times moved me to tears.
All of us have challenges within our families but
this book will cause you to appreciate the importance of family
and our connections to each other that we often take for granted.
This is definitely worth t he investment of your time to read.
