I received an electronic copy of this book in exchange for my willingness to write an honest review, which I am happy to provide.
Chapter 1 sets the expectations and requirement that we need to build a strong foundation. Who does that need to be? Our boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife? No! Jesus needs to be our foundation before we ever seek our other half. Without that foundation we will fail. Jesus is the one who defines who we are, not someone else. What is purity? It is not just a list. Purity begins in the heart, it is a lifestyle and definitely does not stop with a wedding ring!
Changing your intentions is the title of Chapter 3 and I quote: "To arrive at any destination, you have to know where you are currently and where you are headed. That's what being intentional is all about. Be clear and reasonable about the stage of life you are in, and be clear about where you are headed. Be intentional with your activities and conversations. Because if you don't , more than likely you will end up in a place you never planed on being." This advice applies to singles and married couples! There are three things to be intentional about: time, choices and conversation.
If you are single, dating or considering marriage this is definitely a book you NEED to read. Sex is beautiful, designed by God but due to the church's/parents embarrassment, many of us feel guilty even in the confines of marriage. We have been conditioned to think of sex as taboo before marriage but then as soon as our wedding vows are taken, it's then all supposed to be wonderful. Parents, talking with your kids about sex is vital!
Chapter 6 is for ladies only and discusses the skills you need for the day you have a husband to care for. Be preparing now with fathers and brothers etc. Don't just wait until your marriage.
Chapter 7 is written by the author's husband to the men and it is EXCELLENT! No punches are pulled, just down to earth, straight talk. Men, be accountable. Lock down internet temptation. Gain control as a teenager so you don't drag the bad things into your marriage. Dating? Ask the girl the right questions, learn her heart. "Dating ultimately should lead to marriage. Dating just to date is an empty pursuit, like chasing wind." Are you training to be the leader of your home now? Calls men to maturity! REAL men!
This book was provided in exchange for an honest review. I was honestly impressed and this is a definite keeper. Thanks, Liz
