This book was so stinkin' cute! Laugh out loud funny, sexy at times, and just all around really darn sweet!
First, I love, love, love the relationship between Jason and Jaxon! It was so adorable and had me awww-ing throughout the entire book.
Lindsay and Deuce? HILARIOUS! I loved them! They had great banter with Jason and were very solid characters on their own leaving their friendships with our hero to seem very realistic.
My favorite thing though about the entire book was the heroine, Addison. She was so real. And I don't mean "romance" real, I mean "Spanx wearing, stretch mark having, yoga-pants loving" real. And I freakin' loved that. A lot.
The relationship between Addison and Jason was paced out very well and provided just enough build up. It seemed very natural and they flowed together in a great way.
And their "problems"? Solid. Very believable and the way they were presented and worked through was spot on!
Overall, I'd definitely read another book from M. E. Carter, especially since this one was soooo good and just a debut!
**I received an ARC of this book from the author.**
I. Absolutely. Loved. This. Story!!! I've had this on my kindle for quite some time and wanted to give one last football story a chance. I love football. My favorite day of the week is Sunday, Monday night, and Thursday night from September until the beginning of January. I've never really found a football book that I really liked though. I think there was only one that I liked, but then, this little gem comes around and it stole my "hart". It was real. It was oh so swoony. It was believable. Jason Hart is probably one of my favorite book boyfriends EVER!!! He's loyal, he loves, he makes your "hart" flip, makes you feel that zaza-zoo, and he has a lot of room in his "hart". The one thing he wasn't - an alpha male! Thank god! He's a 6'5" 230 pound "Sponge Bob" - his words not mine - of a guy who just knows how to do romance and play football.
Enter a little boy named Jax who melts his "hart" and he finds he has more than the love of football in common with him. He's drawn to Jax and comes face to face with his mom, who knocks him out with her genuine sweet disposition and beauty. She's real. She wears spanx. She loves unconditionally. She's been hurt. She's ambivalent. But when she loves, she's all in.
The humor and witty banter was sweet and just made me smile big.
The supporting cast - Deuce (the best friend) especially added to the charm of this Dallas Cowboy football romance. And yes, I even warmed up to the Dallas Cowboys.
But Jaxson, he's the adorable little boy that set in motion this story that warmed my heart. He had no off switch and no filter. He's a lot like Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh as he does a lot of bouncing and his love for football really touched me.
I can't say enough about this story. I loved it really hard, and then some. I enjoyed it even more since I listened and read it at the same time. It was truly a story I would read and listen to again and again. It's that good.
This book is definitely the winner of my Super Bowl of football books!
First of all, the fact that this book is a male POV is just amazing! Jason Hart is the lead character. Jason is a defensive lineman on the Dallas Cowboys. He has been known as someone who won't commit and settle down, just living the single life.
When Jason makes an appearance at a local elementary school pep rally, he meets Jaxon. Jaxon is a super fan and a kid who has recently lost his father. Jason immediately is taken by the boy. He reminds him of himself at that age. Jason also lost his father when he was young. Jason decides to give the boy a tour of the stadium. When Jaxon shows up at the tour with his mom, Addison, Jason's life changes.
Jason falls in love with Addison and has to show her that a relationship with him can work. Addison agrees to try. They both take you on a ride of a new relationship and a new beginning for both characters. Jason makes Addison feel beautiful and loved.
This story is simply adorable. The sweet storyline along with the steamy scenes are just perfect. I now have a new book boyfriend, and his name is Jason Hart!
5 Dallas Cowboys Stars!!
The secondary characters were outstanding. Lindsay, Deuce, and his wife Vanessa were the perfect mix to this story. Overall an enjoyable read. A 3.5 star worthy book.
