The Queen and the Captain pairs Captain Dana Rhoridan with Eileen, the former queen of Immidestria. Dana's assignment is to transport Eileen to Gantarat, where Eileen has important information to deliver. All that is scuttled when the two women must fight for their lives after the space ship is attacked. This is an exciting read, with diabolical bad guys out to get Dana and Eileen!
The Dawning pits Chief Engineer Korrian Heigel against Chief Psychologist-Anthopologist Meija Solimar. Korrian has been hired to design a fleet of ships which will transport millions from an endangered planet. Meija is to make sure the ships will meet the needs of the refugees being transported. Both women are equal to their assigned task, but less capable to working together.
Author Gun Brooke has given readers three very different and very enjoyable novellas, with strong, humorous women as the stars. Change Horizons is a fun read for lovers of science fiction, as well as anyone who enjoys a good plot!
I have been a fan of her writing for a while and her characters always come to life. I do think this book reads better with a familiarity with her other sci-fi stories, but it is not required. I think the stories will be quite enjoyable even for first-time Gun Brooke readers. In fact, I think some will even be encouraged to look into her other stories.
this book. If you haven't read them you will still like this book and maybe you will try the others. This was a good read.
