Ashley Rescot is a professional violinist, educator, writer, and Fulbright Scholar. An aficionado of music, pedagogy, family, faith, and language, she writes about her life as a musician. Stay tuned for her music novel!

At the age of two, Ashley began violin under her mother’s tutelage. Family performances with her mom, four sisters, aunts, cousins, and grandmother comprise her fondest childhood memories.

Her senior year in high school, Ashley served as concertmaster of her youth symphony in Kansas and won the youth talent concerto competition to solo with the orchestra. Afterward, she moved to Texas for college where she received a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and minors in French and English.

In addition to violin, Ashley developed a passion for French, especially French music. She spent a year abroad in Paris, France as a Fulbright scholar where she taught English and collaborated with local musicians. The experience opened her eyes to another culture which influenced her perspective as a creative artist and educator.

She returned to the Midwest to teach collegiate French language courses and earn a Master of Arts in French literature. After graduation, she moved to the greater Chicago area where she taught French at a regional university and grew her private violin studio.

Today, Ashley loves to work with her students, perform with family and friends, and write about all things music and French. She especially enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is a member of her family group Uptown Violins, the Blackwater String Ensemble, the SSA music teachers’ society, the ACFW writers’ association, and is an active musician at her church. As a veteran performer and pedagogue, she strives to pass on her love of music and language to the next generation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sisters. Romance. Rivalry. Music.
By Jessica Sly on September 20, 2021
If you love music and heartwarming stories of the bonds of sisterhood, this sweet story by Ashley Rescot is for you!

This novel follows Victoria, a talented violinist who wants to attend a prestigious music school. When she enters a concerto competition, she finds herself going up against her sister Adrienne and her cellist friend, Jerry. That thrusts her into a fierce rivalry with her sister and a budding friendship, and possible romance, with Jerry.

The fun dynamic between the sisters reminded me of Little Women! It was also really fun to identify so closely with one of the younger sisters, the shy pianist who loves to read. <3

This book has drama, friendship, sisterhood, and love. Plus lots of music. Grab a copy, and check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful read filled with music, romance and so much more!
By Lindsay on October 3, 2021
I found Ashley Rescot's, A Change in Tune, to be so delightful! Clever musical references are woven throughout, with a beautiful story about relationships taking center stage. The main character, Victoria, faces challenges with several relationships: with her sisters, with a handsome friend, with her teacher, with her music and ultimately with herself.

The whole story was underscored by musical references that mirrored the action of the scenes. The added seasonal touches added nostalgia for the best that each season brings- pumpkin spice in the fall, ice skating at Christmastime, etc.

I found myself smiling throughout and could identify with the delightfully human characters.
