R. Kendall Lyman is a founding principal of The Highlands Group, a firm specializing in strategy, organizational change, and leadership development. He helps leaders around the world to navigate change, improve employee engagement, and transform culture.
Kendall lives with his wife and three children in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area. He holds a MBA from Brigham Young University.

Tony C. Daloisio, Ph.D., is a principal of The Highlands Group, and founder/CEO of the Charter Oak Consulting Group (one of Inc. magazine's fastest growing privately held firms; see cocg.com). Tony earned a BA and Ph.D. in Psychology and Education from the University of Connecticut, and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Fairfield University.
Residing in both Atlanta, GA, and Washington Depot, CT, Tony is married to Teresa Hargrave. They have two children and two grandchildren.

I am finding that now is the time to own, learn from, and use this book. In my work global pressure and new technology is constantly changing. It can be hard to figure out the way past immediate hurdles to get long term improvement. Though I am not leading a company but rather a small team of people trying to improve new product development, this book and it's five sections on Accelerating Focus, Alignment, Engagement, Leadership, and Sustainability will help be a helpful resource. I can't digest all the information in this book immediately but hope to come back to it regularly as we move through different projects and initiatives.

This is a must read. This is rare: new thinking, new ideas, breakthrough processes for breakthrough performance.

I've been reading about Organizational Change for a couple dozen years, and this book is the first book to reframe my thinking in a very long time. These authors are remarkably smart, but what I like most is their practicality. This book is about implementation and gets way beyond theory. And, their ideas are way beyond the things I've been reading about change before--which are too tied up in cliches.

This book is about taking culture seriously. Furthermore, they help leaders focus their attention on results. They provide a model for driving the vision--the hopes and dreams of organizations--into operational realities. They understand the progression through the process--about focus, about alignment and those things that enable an organization finding new ways to imagine success and finding actual ways to achieve that success.

Change is Coming!

If Games of Thrones taught us that winter is coming, then being a leader means that change is coming. Always! There has been so much written about change and change management. Why would you need another book on this topic. Because leading change effectively is difficult. The authors illustrate a range of ways to set up environments conducive to facilitating change, to invite and encourage team members to adapt to the change around them and to lead in different ways as change demands. Told through the eyes of experience and stories.

I have been waiting for this book for years. Working in a company where we blend two fields of study (marriage and family therapy and organizational design) to help families of struggling teens, we knew "Change the Way You Change" was going to be an invaluable source of information and inspiration when working with parents as change agents in their homes. Tony and Kendall's book blew my mind. It is a virtual diamond mine of analogies, models, stories, and personal experience. It teaches leaders how to envision a future, solicit input, get buy-in, and most importantly, implement and sustain the hard won change. There isn't a family or business out there who doesn't struggle with planned pivots or unforeseen, emergency change. If you want to handle it with greater ease and long-term success, I'd recommend you get this book in your hands ASAP!
