Top Customer Reviews
There is much to like about this book. The author has done a great job of presenting not only her personal experiences and engaging client stories, but she also ties the change process back into the research literature by identifying what has been proven to work.
The book is divided into two sections. The first seven chapters each address a specific “insider secret” to successful change. The remaining three chapters make up the second section which focuses on sustaining the changes that have been made. Each chapter concludes with a Key Points section for review and easy reference and an Action Items section that encourages the reader to practice what they learned in the chapter.
While there is much to like about the book, I do have one major criticism. Like so many other professionals in our field, the author jumps back and forth between health, wellness and wellbeing treating them all as if they are the same concept which, of course, they are not. I believe that book would have been much stronger had each of these concepts been addressed independently.
The book is both an easy and engaging read and delivers much value to the reader. If you are interested in the subject of personal change, this book is worth your reading.
Buy copies for your many friends and family members who are not ready to change. It gives honor to their position as a legitimate space on the continuum of change and offers a very warm dish of evidence-based hope to them!
If you are on the road to better health, or even if you are discouraged, this book is a game-changer. You will refer back to it again and again.
The first chapter alone triggered many “a-ha” moments for me as years of ups and downs in my journey of weight loss and exercise began to make sense.
Anne Marie sheds a welcome light of understanding and value on past failures, while casting a brilliant ray of hope on future health behavior.
Anyone who has tried and failed on their road to better health, must read this extraordinary book.. Your view of “change” will never be the same!
