Review

"This third entry in the Macleod werewolf family saga is the best one yet. Harper skillfully builds characters and situations that evoke empathy for the good citizens of both the human and shapeshifter species. The drama of the tracking and kidnapping of a young changeling child makes for page-turning suspense..." - RT (Romantic Times)

"Not your everyday werewolf story line. Changeling Dawn has romance, kidnapping, and murder...along with some mystery and intrigue." - Dee's Musings

"Changeling Dawn is filled with so much passion, mystery, action and some heart ache (it even made me cry). It is so far the best in the series. Dani Harper brings so much passion into these characters and they seem so real. Kenzie and Josh have amazing chemistry that grabs your attention as soon as they meet." - Awesomesauce Book Club

CHANGELING DAWN by Dani Harper (Brava / January 2012 / 978-0-7582-6518-0) "This third entry in the Macleod werewolf family saga is the best one yet. Harper skillfully builds characters and situations that evoke empathy for the good citizens of both the human and shapeshifter species. The drama of the tracking and kidnapping of a young changeling child makes for page-turning suspense, while the main characters' PTSD from childhood trauma and the Afghan war give them a great motive for their intense determination to rescue the little one." --Romantic Times Book Reviews, 4.5 STARS

About the Author

Mythical, magical, memorable ... Dani Harper writes Paranormal Fantasy that will keep you up all night!

Dani Harper is a former newspaper editor whose passion for all things supernatural led her to a second career writing paranormal fantasy. There isn't anything she likes better than exploring myths and legends from many cultures, which serve to inspire her sizzling and suspenseful stories. A longtime resident of the Canadian north and southeastern Alaska, she now lives in rural Washington with her retired mountain-man husband.

Harper's first foray into fiction began with a series of successful wolf-shifter novels: CHANGELING MOON (2012 RITA finalist), CHANGELING DREAM, and CHANGELING DAWN. A darker werewolf tale bordering on urban fantasy followed: FIRST BITE.

More recently she's been bringing ancient faery legends into modern-day America with The Grim Series (STORM WARRIOR, STORM BOUND, STORM WARNED, and in 2016, STORM CROSSED).

Harper's latest release is a PNR for those who love ghost stories with a twist: THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT.

Archeologist Kenzie Macleod is a lone wolf shapeshifter because she has never forgotten her running away from raging human vigilantes when she was a fledgling in Scotland. That near fatal incident remains imprinted on her brain to trust no one even her kind as she conceals from both species what she truly is.

In the real final frontier of the Alaskan wilderness, Kenzie is driving towards a locale near Chistochina where she has permission to dig for Ahtna tribal artifacts. She gives a ride to Alaska Department of Fish and Wildlife expert Josh Talarkoteen who was stranded with two flats. When a cub becomes endangered, c he fretfully thinks back to the nightmare of another child in Afghanistan. Josh soon comes to Kenzie's camp to search for the lost cub that he knows is a Changeling just like Kenzie is as he belongs to the Tahltan tribe who read auras. As they try to help the frightened distrusting Changeling, Josh and Kenzie fall in love, but each has traumas to overcome while others have a different outcome in mind.

The latest Macleod werewolf romantic suspense (see Changeling Moon and Changeling Dream) is a superb thriller due to strong cast and location. Both protagonists suffer from Post traumatic Stress Disorder which motivates them to save the child while others in the area kidnap the young Changeling. Relationship driven with whether to trust or not to trust the key feelings, fans will enjoy this terrific taut tale.

After reading the first two book in this trilogy, I really looked forward to reading book number 3. I wasn't disappointed, this is the best one, in my opinion, so far. After reading the Twilight Series and several other paranormal series, I was skeptical about whether I would like a werewolf (Changeling) book or not. I know that most of these paranormal series' are tailored toward the YA audience, and since I haven't been a YA in 45 years, I wasn't sure how I would like these. All three of these books were great. They are for the mature young adult as there are some love scenes that will make you blush.

What I liked best were the story lines and how the author brought her characters to life. They were fun and truly made me a follower of hers.

I have seen that she will be putting out another book in a new series in August, and I can't wait. I recommend her books highly.

Absolutely great book. Complex characters with a suspenseful storyline. Easy to follow, but never boring. The first two books of this series were great, but this one was exciting with strong lead and supporting characters.

I'm not really sure what it was that drew me in and made me buy the book, but I'm glad I did. This was the third book in the series, and the first in the series was the first I'd ever read by Dani Harper. The reason I waited to review the books till I got thru with this one is because I barely stopped long enough between books to think about a review. The series was that good. I couldn't wait to read the next one. The storyline was not all that different from the rest of the shifter romances out there, but her characters were lovable and the story well written, so much so it all felt more real than fantasy. What I found most appealing is the fact that unlike a lot of shifter romances she took the time to give a well written story with a plot, adventure and romance, not just all about the sex.
I recommend reading all three stories if you're thinking of giving this one a shot, you won't be disappointed.

This is an awesome series!!! I read the first book in a couple days, then immediately went online and downloaded the other two in the series. All were exceptional!! Dani Harper is comparable to Ann Rice, in my opinion. I've tried to find other books as well written as Rice and Harper's, but they all seem to be either paranormal porn or horrific violence with little or no plot. Harper fleshes out her characters, stays on track, has all the suspense necessary and finishes the tale. I wish she could write faster than I could read, though.... I've already read everything she's done, so far.

This is the third book in the Changeling Series. If you haven't read this series yet you should start with book 1 "Changeling Moon" and book 2 "Changeling Dream". If you like werewolf paranormal romances, you'll love Dani's "Changeling" world. We see some of our old favorite characters in this book. Connor and his wife Zoey, James and his wife Jillian, Birkie, the one who has some psychic powers. This story mainly focuses on Kenzie though, who's an awesome archaeologist and anthropologist and who spends a lot of time away from home. She has her own personal reasons for staying away from home so much, even though she loves her family.

Kenzie meets Josh when he jumps out in the road on her way to a dig site. She almost runs him over but he takes the risk since he's in backcountry Alaska, with nowhere to go and his cell service not working so far out in the boonies. Kenzie gives him a ride to a nearby town and they chat along the way, especially about families and expectations from them. Something Kenzie doesn't realize on the way is that Josh has always been able to see aura's and knows exactly what her blue aura means, because she's not the first Changeling he's come across.

While Kenzie is getting her dig site up, she runs across an old friend/lover who's also an archaeologist. He's still crushing on her from several years ago, but Kenzie isn't interested in Nate as a mate. Nate is also a changeling, but he doesn't stir her inner wolf. Nate is also pretty bitter because he has to work hard to get grants in order to find new digs, where Kenzie comes from a rich family and she basically can dig wherever she wants, whenever she wants and Nate is a bit jealous of that fact.

Kenzie and Josh run into each other later on, especially since Kenzie has found a young wolf.
