This book was great!!!! Sarah just couldn't catch a break. First her husband dies in an automobile accident which leaves her permanently disabled (she has to walk with a walking stick just to get around). Then she met Able and Brandi, and through them she met Danny (a vampire). Danny and Sarah became close, she even lets him "feed" from her. As their story progresses Sarah becomes comfortable with Danny and she thinks it could progress to love. On this particular occasion she receives a dress and a new walking stick from him, and once again tragedy strikes. Danny, Able and Brandi were shot and killed. Sarah gets shot twice but she thankfully she survives. Mick and Toby (Danny's daytime help) carry her unconscious body between them before the house goes up in flames. Then a blast from her past, Kaelan, shows up and administers CPR. He only knows where she is because he is a Bounty Hunter and check the website where they post jobs. He then takes her, Mick and Toby back home with him because he let the rogue hunters get away. She recovers and he trains her so that when the hit comes out on the rogue hunters comes through the website they can take the job together. When the job comes through they take it and tragedy strikes again. They take out the two rogue hunters, but their information was incomplete. They knew there was a woman in the house, but the information didn't state she was a Therian (were-creature). The Therian sliced Sarah open and she was "infected", before Kaelan could kill her. He then rushed Sarah to the emergency room, but it was already too late she was going to become a were-jaguar. She were recovered in hours, unfortunately the damage had been done. Kaelan and Sarah had started developing feelings for each other, but that ended, or so Sarah thought, day that she became a Therian.
This book is a cliffhanger, but I want the next book. I think I ❤️KC Riley-Gyer and her style of writing.
