This book is a must read for anyone who cares about LIFE. I first connected with Judy in 2015. I volunteer with wolves at a research and education facility in Indiana. I became concerned when I noticed changes in breeding season hormone behaviors. The wolves primary diet is road kill white tail deer. The facility is located in the heart of commercial agriculture. I have seen chemical spraying on a massive scale many times that I have been there. I was concerned that the deer were eating foliage that had been sprayed with Roundup and other chemicals, and that the chemicals were being transferred to the wolves who ate them. An internet search about hormone disruption in white tail deer took me directly to Judy's published research articles. I contacted her and began I dialog about my concerns. I found Judy to be generous with her knowledge, and her assertions are backed up with rigorous research. I attempted to start a data collection project at this facility per Judy's protocols of measuring underbite and looking for and documenting genital malformations. The head of research completely ignored my concerns. Judy's book is a compilation of decades of field observation, research findings and accounts of government ignorance and obstruction of the facts being presented. This book is eye opening, heart breaking and overwhelming. Our planet is being systemically poisoned. I admire Judy for her compassion, fortitude, scientific rigor and GUTS for facing this problem head on and doing her best to educate the public and the "powers that be". Her case studies relate her commitment to life in all forms. The book is clear, concise, thorough and well written. I wish that I could give it 10 stars and I wish that there wasn't a need for such writing. When are we going to wake up? Thank you Judy for all that you do for all of us.

Judy, a biologist, wildlife researcher and wildlife rehabilitator along with her husband Bob, a biologist and Montana game warden (now retired), began observing new birth defects and health issues in mammals and birds in western Montana the spring of 1995. This book chronicles over 20 years of observations regarding the changes in the faces and the vital organs of vertebrate newborns now being observed throughout North America. Included is discussion of how people and other animals, plants, and the entire biodiversity of our planet are being dangerously affected by a combination of factors, one being recent excessive use of specific herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. What we can do to mitigate these devastating changes is addressed in the sincere hope that positive action will be taken before it is too late. Mass extinctions are already occurring as a result of the changes humans are causing to the face of the planet. This book is somewhat like "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, but is not as technical and has lots of photos to illustrate the birth defects and health issues, along with stories of individual animals. In the process of rehabilitating wildlife, Judy discovered how to correct certain defects such as underdeveloped bones, particularly those facial bones which result in underbite and overbite, allowing normal growth. She also discovered how to mitigate certain other health issues such as how to heal broken bones in mammals and birds in about half the usual time. The stories of the individual animals, which prompted her discoveries, are in this book in the hope that others can also be helped.

About the Author
Judy Hoy grew up on a cattle ranch and learned at a young age what constitutes normal development in newborn animals. When she was 20, she worked in a large hospital nursery caring for newborn children for 6 months to earn money for college, giving her an education in a normal newborn human's anatomy. She began her adult career as an elementary school teacher and taught in grades 4 through 6 for 12 years. She also was a wildlife artist and a wildlife rehabilitator, mainly in the summer months. Judy's husband, Bob, is a wildlife biologist and worked until he retired as a game warden for Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Judy wrote the book Changing Faces to help bring attention to the multiple birth defects and serious health effects now occurring on newborns of vertebrate and invertebrate species and to the consequences to the biodiversity and face of the planet of overusing pesticides (umbrella term).

A modern-day Silent Spring. In the 1960s, Rachael Carson documented the environmental damage from DDT. Today, Judy Hoy tells us about the devastation caused by modern pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
Judy has been observing wildlife in Montana for over 50 years, meticulously documenting what she sees. Rain so polluted with toxins that the tips of her goat’s ears were eaten away; bears that lost their fur and went bald over most of their body; deer with no or malformed testicles; animals and birds with severe, life-threatening overbite due to malformed head growth; birth defects and failure to thrive after birth; animals that drop dead from lung hemorrhage; catastrophic drops in insect populations needed by birds, and in the berries needed by bears and birds; loss of critical minerals from plants due to Roundup; loss of environmental diversity and species die-off; and much more. It is truly horrifying.
Of course, what affects animals and their environment affects affects us and our kids. The heavy use of agricultural poisons shows up as chronic health issues: severe allergies, asthma, malformed head growth, autism and ADHD.
Why is this so infuriating? Because the system that is supposed to protect us and our environment has totally failed. The Montana Department of Fish & Wildlife is more concerned with property values and encouraging people to move to Montana (for the supposedly clean air and land!). The EPA ignores all the substantial evidence of harm to the environment, and all the science that proves it, including this wonderful book.
Anyone who reads this book and looks at the evidence would IMMEDIATELY ban Roundup and glyphosate; organochlorine compounds like chlorothalonil, 2,4-D, and dicamba; and neonicotinoids. I hope we come to our senses and do this soon.

Deer don't speak human...neither do calves nor birds. Yet there is a woman who understands the message baby animals have to tell us human beings and this information delivers a huge impact on our own human babies!
Judy Hoy has studied and documented animals both wild and domestic. She has witnessed and documented birth defects caused by pesticides and has found a way to reverse them.
I don't know of anyone else on the planet who has done this specific type of observation and before/after documentation with animals that can so profoundly affect the future quality of our lives. Fortunately for us...Judy Hoy's research is now in book form for all to see. We have been given a gift in CHANGING FACES.May we read...and LEARN.

A fabulous book that exposes the plight of all life on this planet when exposed to toxins. This not, however, a rant, it is a book with real solutions! A must-read for everyone concerned about their health and the health of nature's critters whom we share this planet with.
