I am so happy that I found this sports romance erotic series. I love any man in uniform and the fact that this book was about Gavin Riley as a star baseball player I couldn't have loved it anymore.
When we first met Elizabeth and Gavin in the first book in the series The Perfect Play I really did not enjoy Elizabeth's character. Not because of what happened with Mick but rather she was just cold, there was no life to her character. So when I picked up this book and saw that it was about her I was slightly worried but wow that was knocked out of the ballpark. I loved her character. I also loved the fact that this book touched back with Mick and Tara.
The fact that this series each book is a different couple and we meet this couple the book before this or a few books before make it more real for me. We get to learn about these people through each story and read about what is going on in their lives. While you can read these books as stand alone (like I did the first time I found one of her books) it is so much better when you go back and read them from the beginning.
Easily one of my favorite romance series. This series will not disappoint if you love romance, hot beautiful professional sports players, and a lot of action.
I had a much easier time relating to Liz and the situation that she was in that I did with Tara in The Perfect Play. Not to mention the fact that I enjoyed not having a child in the book kind of getting in the way. Not that I didn't enjoy the previous story line but well it kind of annoyed me. I think that Jaci Burton did a great job at creating a story line that made Mick face his decision to hold Liz to the mistakes she made even though she had already apologized and fixed the situation. Tara had even forgiven her but Mick kept holding on. This caused a lot of drama both betwen Liz and Mick but also the whole Riley family. And in my opinion it was just the right amount of tension and drama that left me wondering if they could work it out or would things just fall apart like Liz has convienced herself is going to happen.
This is for sure an adult book with a lot of sex, but extremely well written sex. Be aware of this because it is not tame by any streech of the imagination. If you are looking for a HOT and STEAMY book that still has excellent plot, this is the book for you. Sit back, have a drink and enjoy this HOT story.
I loved book one in the series and am now wondering why it took me so long to actually to pick up book two and read it. It was well worth my time as the story line was awesome and held my attention from page one to the last page. I've already order book 3 and can't wait to dive in.
Liz has been avoiding Gavin since his older brother Mick fired her as his agent. She is afraid that Gavin will fire her too which would really hurt her agency. She is also afraid that Gavin will realize that she has loved him for years. Naturally, Gavin is clueless! He is however interested enough to take her home with him to talk and doesn't mind at all that the talking leads to sex.
There are tons of rather graphic love scenes that don't go over the line for me because they are clearly love scenes and not just sex scenes. Sex is the one area where they don't have disagreements or any confusion. But outside of bed (or wherever else they decide to make love) there is less compatibility. Liz has to balance her role as her agent with her role as her lover. And Gavin is getting constant pressure from his brother to drop Liz.
This was a great romance featuring people I came to like very much. I recommend it and encourage readers to look for the first book in this series - The Perfect Play - to find out why Mick dislikes her so much. I am also eager to read Taking a Shot to see Mick and Gavin's sister Jenna find a romance of her own.
