Ford and Elise are two individuals with a connection most wouldn't believe possible at their age. It is easy to tell from their flashbacks that Ford and Elise fell for each other instantly and it is a bond that can't be broken. Or can it? When they are faced with life altering information and choices will their love survive? Will they survive?
Changing Us is a story of two people that, despite their young age, face life and its problems together and with purpose and passion.
I was pulled into their story from the beginning, I had a hard time reading this book quickly like I normally would. I had to stop and take breaks because of the emotions that they were feeling and that I was feeling.
Their lives are turned upside down and they struggle to work through everything. When things go from bad to worse, Ford attempts to push Elise away, because her would rather have her hate him than not be able to move on. He even comes close to making a decision that would have left her even more broken than as He was.
When surgery, even though it is risky and not a guarantee, is his only option, she tells him he needs to fight to come back to her. I cried a lot at this book. My heart was torn to shreds. It was vs stunningly beautiful book about true love and fighting for what you have/want.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Elise and Ford are the perfect couple, or as close to it as you can get. They support each other, love and confide in each other and are each other's best friend. Their love is tested over and over when life throws them so many curve balls that at times it seems they won't make it.
Elise has not had an easy childhood. She's had to deal with a lot of turmoil in her life and one specific act of cowardice from a "trusted friend" leaves her feeling vulnerable and guarded. Until she meets Ford.
Ford is the dutiful son who plays football not because he wants to but to please his father. This will have sure consequences down the road for Ford. He is instantly intrigued and attracted to Elise.
Their love story is one of resilience and strength. I was rooting for them the whole way until the end. The obstacles they faced at such a young age only made their relationship stronger.
You will definitely need a box of tissues for this one. It's a real tear-jerker. The author's writing is spectacular. The characters are great. The support system behind this couple, especially Terry and Carol, is amazing. I truly enjoyed this story and would highly recommend it.
