Sometimes this puppy works, sometimes it doesn't. I normally take a flat head and linemans (as a hammer) to adjust the locknuts, but sometimes you're at an angle that a screwdriver won't work. The same with this tool; it works maybe half the time. One problem is that if the locknut isn't flat against the box, the clamp tends to slide underneath it. It's hard to get a good bite on the locknut. But I don't think these are flawed. It's more an inherent tricky issue to start with depending on the location of the damn locknut. But I do suggest getting it for times when your flat head won't work.

I've been using - or at least trying to use - this locknut wrench for several days now, and I'm not impressed. If that locknut happens to be the thicker variety, then the tool works if you hold it just right. If it's one of those skinny locknut jobs, then forget it. In all cases, the wrench gets in its own way and is difficult to seat on the locking ring "just right" so it grabs.
You're better off using a pair of bent-nose pliers.
Awkward to use and only somewhat effective.

Excellent tool. I’ve been dealing with wire nuts for over 50 years (started at 9 years old helping dad) using a hammer & screwdriver. The dam thing would always misalign. No tool would be perfect due to the inherently tight locations these nuts can be in. However, I find this tool to work excellent. Able to handle 3/8 to 1&1/4 nut sizes. Why carry 3 wrenches that don’t handle the full range of sizes) when you can just use one tool. I’m not big on single task tools but this one is well work it.

There are problems with slippage due to the lack of space when trying to undue and lock the nuts, if the area is clear of wires and more space it does an ok job. They can improve the tool by giving it a small angle coming off the handles and increasing the thickness at the tips and add slight jimping at the face.

For the tight work i do in electric boxes i guess im just out of luck.. This product has worked the best for me to date, thought i will give it that. But in reality your just at the mercy of the locknut.. If it wants to come off it will if it dont your screwed.
To sum this tool up , When using this tool i cussed less than usual, ill just put it that way.

These made my wiring projects so much easier! Mostly using these in large sub-panel boxes as the rest of my project is PVC based but these make turning the locknuts a breeze. No more bloody knuckles, cursing or taking 30 minutes for each locknut. Not sure how they'd do in a single gang box but it makes panel installations a breeze!
