Directions

Plain chapstick is the Way to Go!

There is just no way you can go wrong with plain old regular not flavored chapstick! I know most people won't even read a review of this because it's 'just' chapstick; we ALL know what we're getting right? But I have something to tell you that really did change my life and maybe yours also. I have been addicted to chapstick for as long as I can remember. I wanted every flavor! But in the last few years I started getting cracks at the corners of my mouth after eating certain food, mostly acidic, tomatoes, bbq sauces etc. There is a medical term for it, but it escapes me. After a little research I learned that the flavored chapstick fuel this fire but these plain, unflavored, moisturizing ones will help. The cracks can be very painful so I definitely didn't want to add to that. Christmas came around one year and everyone know I loved chapstick, but I had to be very clear about not buying the flavors. It was a disappointment for all, myself included. But all in all, I was able to make the switch to just plain chapstick. And I couldn't be happier! ((Full disclosure, I'm leaving this review for this regular mundane product as part of an online challenge, a game I'm participating in. HOWEVER, every word is true!) Happy chapsticking!

My husband is a mailman in Phoenix Arizona. He needs a good moisturizer for everything! He's been using this particular chapstick for many years. In fact, it's the ONLY one he'll use. He prefers the "original". It stays on for several hours before having to reapply unless he's eaten. It even stays on while he drinks his water all day long. His lips stay moist and protected so they don't crack in the heat of the sun. The scent of the 'original' is not really anything to speak of. It's just neutral so it doesn't have a 'taste' either. It's pleasant to use.

Best replacement for Neutrogena

I had used only Neutrogena's "Norwegian Formula" lip balm with SPF 15 for years, but it has either been discontinued or has just been unavailable for weeks (except at inflated prices), so I've been on the hunt for a replacement.

This particular formulation of Chapstick Moisturizer is IT.

This is not your grandfather's Chapstick (or the one I remember using as a kid that felt like you were drawing on your lips with a Crayola crayon).

I tried this product because its ingredients are quite similar to Neutrogena's. Similar feel -- smooth, not waxy at all. Moisturizes well and lasts quite a while. Really, I can hardly distinguish between the two products except for a slight sweet taste (not unpleasant) that lasts a couple of seconds when the Chapstick is first applied.

Given how satisfied I am with this Chapstick product, the only question is whether or not I'll return to the Neutrogena if it comes back on the market. I'm not sure I will, since the Chapstick is also a fraction of the cost. This switch may be permanent.

Highly recommended.

If you like chapstick with no flavor or smell, then this is the one for you. Whenever I use chapstick that has a flavor, I always end up licking all of it off my lips, which in turn means I put more on and end up using a whole lot of chapstick. This plain chapstick will last me a long time because I only have to put it on twice a day. Once in the morning before I go to work, and once at night. When I use it twice, my lips stay pretty moist and I find myself not having to lick them during the summertime. I haven't tried this chapstick yet during the winter time, but I have a feeling I'll have to use it more like four times a day.I do notice that this chapstick comes off pretty easily and it's definitely not water resistant. The cap stays on pretty nicely, and I haven't had any issues where I've lost a cap yet. If you've ever lost a ChapStick cap, you know just how frustrating that can be.

You know how some chapsticks seem really hydrating but when they rub off your mouth after a few hours, your lips are left even drier than before (like not just normal uncoated lips, but dry and almost flaky)? This is the only chapstick where this does NOT happen to me! I only buy this particular kind anymore -- it has to be Chapstick brand with the little blue water drop on the cap. Works like a charm. Buy a few packs and keep them in every purse, bag, diaper bag, etc. that you own!
