Char-Broil TRU Infrared Technology
The Big Easy utilizes Char-Broil’s TRU Infrared technology eliminates hot and cold spots, and delivers juicy, crisp, and flavorful results every time. The TRU Infrared technology takes the mess and hassle out of cooking a perfect turkey (up to 16 lbs.) or other large cut of meat (chickens, pork tenderloins, or beef roasts), leveraging infrared heat to cook the food, instead of heated oil like other products. Because of the oil-less functionality, there is no waiting for the oil to heat up and you can prepare your bird or meat with seasoned rubs or injectable marinades- both of which are not an option with traditional fryers. The fully-enclosed 16,000 BTU propane burners sit inside of a double-wall cylindrical cooking chamber, which generate infrared heat that circles the cooker to penetrate and cook the meat evenly, sealing in juices. The result is a turkey or meat that is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, without the hassle or added fat and calories of oil.

Easy to use
Cooking on the Big Easy is very simple. With only two knobs to control- one to turn on, and one to light the burner, operating is easy to do. And when you're done, it's compact size allows for easy storage.
Also included with the Big Easy is a removable drip pan located underneath the heating chamber, which catches flavorful juices, allowing cooks to retain the essential ingredients of homemade gravy for further preparation on the stovetop.

Best $100 investment for the grilling novice and intermediate. I'm not an expert. Simple, small (relatively speaking for storage), quick assembly, and great results. This unit will be used more than my grill. A family winner if you like meats other than hot dogs, burgers, or ribeye. Season your big easy and get started. Thanksgiving is coming.
Edit: cooked a 16lb turkey for an early thanksgiving meal. My brother-in-law smoked his. Mine was hands down more juicy and moist. Now I'm stuck doing this every year. But it's easy. Stater Bros seasoning pack and a digital thermometer with a lead was the key.
Okay, details. Read reviews. 1600+ are not wrong. Complaints about assembly are for people that can't change a vehicle tire. Easy. Season with oil. Buy the accessories highly recommended. Mine was a bundle but I already ordered the bunk bed basket.
I started this off with experience on grills but disregarded everything I knew to see how I can learn. Watched a 7 min YouTube video for chicken legs in the big easy and paired it with some common sense.
Results were better than my experience with the grill. Tiny amount of olive oil, salt, pepper, leg rack accessory -40 mins, siratcha bbq sauce with brush, 10 more mins. AMAZING. Super simple. More to come with a tri tip, turkey, and prime rib. Cleanup is so easy.
My husband is terrible at assembling, so give yourself an hour to assemble just in case. Don't wait to put it together right before you cook!
We made a duck for Thanksgiving and that turned out delicious. We won't be buying roast duck from the store anymore. Making it at home with this fryer.
No oil, just needs your BBQ propane tank. Food turns out delicious and cooks in a short time. Our 13-lb turkey cooked in less than 2 hours!
No GREASE..The droppings go into a tray... That I.used to make gravy... My patio did not get burn marked, the dogs sniffed and felt the heat..and walked away. We have know used this in every type of weather,as rain and snow have caught us off guard... No worries. The inner pan comes out, so it is completely washable. I use a baking soda paste to clean it easily...
Unit arrived as expected, and the assembly was painless. Read the manual and seasoned the cooker before the first use.
We had a trial run a few days before Thanksgiving, and I cooked a 4 lb Cross Rib roast. Not the best cut of meat, but decent.The roast cooked quickly, and was good. Not exceptional, but good. Again, I was not passing judgement on the cooker, as I thought it was more the cut of meat that was at issue.
Thanksgiving arrives, and I'm ready to go. We had a 14 lb turkey that we brined overnight using Alton Brown's recipe. The recipe calls for aromatics (apple, cinnamon, onion, etc) to by put in the bird's cavity when cooking - I did put some of those in the cavity using cheesecloth, and I think it led to my only issue - more on that in a bit...
Prep for the cook was relatively simple - rinsed and dried the bird after removing from the brine, and I let it warm up for an hour before cooking it. Slathered it in canola oil, and inserted the meat thermometer into the breast. Off and running. 2 hours later, I removed a beautifully cooked turkey, and my family started hovering around. The first thing you notice when you cut into it is the skin. It's so crispy and delicious, we all just stood around and picked at it for a good 20 minutes before we sat down to eat. Amazing.
As for putting the aromatics in the cavity, I think it did interfere with the cooking process, as the very inside of the bird was still a little pink. I believe that it caused the temperature inside the cavity to not reach a high enough temperature, and the result was some minor undercooked meat. Note to self.
Move forward to Christmas - time for Prime Rib! At this point, I was excited to try again - I've cooked prime rib on the rotisserie, in the oven and on the smoker, and I was excited to see how this unit would do. I seasoned the roast (about 8 lbs), and fired up the cooker. Cooked in about 1.5 hours, and pulled it off when the internal temp got to 130 degrees. Wrapped it and let it rest for 30 minutes, and it was the best Prime Rib I have ever cooked. Perfectly done on the inside, with a nice crust on the outside. Rave reviews all around, and the leftovers did not last long.
At New Years, the afore-mentioned brother-in-law came over with his family, so we decided to give the turkey another shot. Same size turkey - about 14 lbs, with the same Alton Brown overnight brine. This time, however, we kept the aromatics out and just cooked the turkey. Came out perfectly. Crispy skin, moist on the inside, and not a hint of pink. My brother-in-law, who is a bit of a turkey snob, said it was the best bird he had ever eaten. I'd say that was a success. Last night, we threw a tri-tip in the cooker, and it again, came out perfectly.
If you're looking for an addition to your outdoor kitchen, I highly recommend this cooker. It's far more versatile than I initially thought, and I look forward to lots of use moving forward.
