Top Customer Reviews
These chips don't impart any strong whiskey flavor into you foods. It gives a delicious, mild, but very smokey oak flavor with a hint of whiskey. For me, perfect! I don't want a stong whiskey smoke throughout my meat. I mixed these with a palmful of hickory chips and slow smoked my ribs. I added a splash of whiskey into my BBQ sauce and slow cooked the sauce into my meat. It was yummy good.
These chips are made from the oak barrels used for aging American whiskey. I will purchase again and again. I am very pleased. That's not to say I won't ever try the Jack Daniels, but be warned, they cost twice as much as these.
UPDATED July 4, 2014....I purchased "these" chips again, to use for my BBQ today. I received a different brand than advertised. The "whiskey chips" I received had no whiskey flavor and produced a lot of harsh smelling smoke. They were not good. While my ribs were still edible, they had a sharp, pungent, smokey flavor. No whiskey flavor at all. Actually, the flavor reminded me of pecan wood. A wood I don't care for.
