I want to start off by saying that I recently purchased a HTC ONE X and own a GENUINE HTC charger that came with the phone. As we all like to know what we're purchasing, I've taken the time to analyze the details of this product.

I compared the GENUINE charger to this product. While the voltage matches, this product was definitely not created by HTC. The writing on the back of the adapter is skewed a bit and is not to the same size scale as the genuine charger. The actual USB hub inside is also different. Same with the cord, it's made from different parts, but made to imitate the real thing. While I haven't had a chance to use it to charge my devices (I'd need to test it out for a couple days to see if the charge holds) it does seem to charge when I plug it in.

With that said, if you want a GENUINE charger, I would consider purchasing it direct from HTC to avoid fakes like this one.

UPDATE
So although these chargers are not genuine...they work like a charm! I ended up purchasing 5 of them. Because of that I'm going to up the rating to 3 stars, but I really wish something would be done about this false advertisement.

UPDATE 2 9/8/12
As noted above I had purchased a few of these, the most recent of which I purchased on the 8th of August. After only using the device for 29 days...it broke! Granted this is what one gets for purchasing a not-so-genuine charger.

Picture of defective unit here:[...]

In addition to having to return it for a refund and reorder another one, removing the device from the outlet when it is in multiple pieces is a safety issue...would hate to get shocked.

After purchasing several chargers that claimed they were OEM product and claimed to output 1 or 2 amps but obviously didn't I decided to purchase a tester. My tester revealed that this charger only puts out around 300 mA regardless of how dead your phone is. Most OEM chargers will charge fast putting out actually amperage of around 700 - 900 mA when charging your phone until around 90% where the phone will slow the charge for the last 10%. This charger puts out less than a USB port on your computer. It is not worth the money. Purchase the Motorola Micro-USB charger also listed on amazon. that is the only charger that I've found to provide an adequate charging amperage.

I needed an 1A and 5W micro USB is what for the Raspberry Pi that I bought. This thing is NOT 1A (1000mA) as advertised. My Pi wouldn't boot up with the NIC card plugged in so I decided to tested it with a digital volt meter and got 5.28v @ .42amps. That's a far cry from 1 amp! I tested a cheap Chinese charger I had lying around with the same cable and that was rated the same, but it at least output 5.42v @ .74amps! This thing is garbage. Might work fine for a device that doesn't need any more that 400mA, but anything more and it wont charge, or will charge extremely slow. I uploaded a video review of the video proof.

So far so good with these chargers. They seem to be sturdy and hopefully long lasting. I would recommend this product yo anyone looking for a cheap reliable charger that don't cost the money the stores charge.

I am very happy with the product. I use it every day. The data cable works great when connected to the computer.

I purchased this for my HTC Inspire from AT&T and despite it being labeled as an HTC charger it certainly is not. There are slight differences in the construction of the wall adapter. All of the notation looks correct but when compared to my OEM charger there are missing pieces of data and part numbers etc. In most situations this wouldn't matter one bit but I'm returning it because when it is charging, the phone the touch screen doesn't function properly. Everything jumps around and opens randomly as soon as I touch the phone. I wouldn't buy this product ever again.

I ordered 2 of these, one for myself and one for my roommate. The major advantage with this charger over other generics is that you can use your phone/device while charging. Despite the HTC logo, none of my HTC devices will recognize it as an authentic HTC charger. The actual micro USB end was so difficult to get in the phone that I was afraid of breaking something. It then took about 6 hours to get my phone to 75%, at which point I threw the first one out. The second one had both of the same issues, difficulty getting in the phone and slow charging.

Not sure if it was a faulty unit or not original HTC product but it put out inconsistent voltage or amperage or something. I was trying to use this to power my 2nd raspberry pi (mini computer) after having good luck powering my other one with the same power supply that came with my android phone. I was issued a refund and did not have to return the product so I did get an extra micro USB cable out of it. I went with another brand when reordering.
