I LOVED THIS BOOK
It was a real great reading.
I loved Cruz and Brody, they are just adorable, sweet, fun and smart. Except for their first disastrous encounter, when they decided to work together, they were a team, a real solid team and I loved this. I loved how they trusted each other, how they’re honest and of course all the seduction parts.
I love Supernatural books (and I’m a fan of Supernatural the TV Show), here the plot is simple, but well written and built. Cruz helps Etienne, who is his best friend and the real ghost hunter. He doesn’t see ghosts like Etienne but believes that they exist. He lives with Etienne, and his sister Simone (who is a ghost) and he is cool with it, like totally super cool. That’s something that I will never be in this situation, I’d be in foetal position crying or trying to burn my house in order to kill the ghost (I never said I was logical or sane)
At first, Brody is skeptical with all of this, but evidence can’t be denied, and when he’s on board, he is totally in, and really works with them.
I also love the rhythm of the story, there’s no lingering, it was a fresh dynamic and fluid writing. The events take place naturally, and I was hooked by the story at the first page.
I was so absorbed in the book, that I was surprised when I’d finished it, I was like “What, I already finish it…how? When? I just start it 24h ago ???”. The good part, it’s only book 1 of the series…I can’t wait for book 2, I hope it’s Etienne’s story, but I also want to read more about Brody and Cruz (I really love them).
I Highly recommend it.
5 OptimuMM for my lovely ghost’s hunters.
How would you like to make the easiest twenty grand of your life?
So began the weirdest day of his life. Cruz believed because he had experienced it. His best friend Etienne's younger dead sister had showed him that fact. Now needing money for his littlest sister, Cruz took on a job when Etienne couldn't, and found much more than he was expecting.
"The ghosts are only here because of me."
Brody had known something was wrong for a long time, he just refused to believe anything but science. Now his father had hired 'exorcists' and he was certain his father was being used. But when he encountered the sincerity of Cruz and slowly got to know the man, Brody realised it was he who needed to confess.
As badly as I wanted to read this book, it got off at a slow start for me and I kept putting it off. Am I glad I persevered and read on. Ghost stories are hard to come by, and if you find one with a defining plotline, go for it no matter what. I truly got involved in this read, eyes opened wide and mouth forming words that did not come. Interesting concept, good characterization and a subplot that made it more human.
How do you get rid of a benevolent spirit. Fight hard, believe and accept that love will find a way. Cruz fought for Brody. Brody fought for his freedom. In the end, love always wins.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from Dreamspinner Press.
