I am one of those people who cannot successfully wear a wrist watch as I keep banging it into things. I was lookIing for a mechanical pocket watch and this one fits the bill perfectly. It is a very accurate timepiece and my grandkids love watching the mechanical movement of the watch. I have seen some reviews of this watch criticising its small size but in my opinion the watch is perfectly sized. The only problem I have had with the watch is reading the time in low light levels since there is little contrast between the hands and the mechanical movement below the hands. This is only a very minor inconvenience.

Bought this for my dad for christmas, he loved the notion of a pocket watch despite constantly wearing a seiko automatic wristwatch. Within days it was loosing time and/or stopping completely despite nightly winds. Return should be underway; I may try another and may update this review.

When I first saw the watch I was surprised at the size. It is slightly, but noticeably, smaller than a standard pocket watch. However it feels quite solid and hefty, has stood up well to daily use and the mechanical movement is mesmerizing.

The packaging is nothing special, but I know the person I gave the watch to has thoroughly enjoyed showing it off. In the end, even at retail the watch is a good deal for its solid level of quality.

My wife gave me a beautiful CH Pocket watch for our anniversary about 2 years ago. Within 8 months I had to send the watch back because the winding stem started skipping and I couldn't wind my watch. Except for the shipping and handling each direction they fixed it for free. Terrific but, within 8 months I had to send it back again for the same problem. It is now less than 6 months since that repair and my stem is already starting to fail. I know the first question is am I over winding it? Valid question. When my wife gave me the watch I was so excited and it means so much to me coming from her. I have wanted one for many many years but it is an item I would never have justified the spending for myself. Making the gift even more precious to me. That being said I have been and still am very careful when I wind the watch only winding until it begins to feel resistance and never until it stops winding. Sometimes it even stops running because I didn't wind it far enough. Which I prefer to the stem breaking. But with this watch made by supposedly "Famous Charles Hubert of Paris known for quality". They fall seriously short of their own benchmark claims. I would not suggest this "Charles-Hubert, Paris #3537, Double Hunter Case Mechanical Pocket Watch". Since I haven't owned any other I don't know if they are any better. My wife paid about $135 for my watch and we have spent another $30 +. I am wondering if it is worth sending it a 3rd time or should we look for a superior watch maker.

I love this watch. I am female and I wear this watch around my neck as I do not care for wrist watche nor do I like quartz watches.. And unfortunately most of the watches of this type made for women are quartz and usually rather "cutesy." The watch is smaller than most men's pocket watches, which is something I wanted. It is very good looking and I like the hunter case because it keeps the crystal from getting scratched. There are only two negatives about the watch in my opinion. The crystal is plastic and could be easily scratched and the hands are difficult to see. However, these two negatives are not enough to keep me from giving 5 stars. The watch appears to be well made, 17 jewels should help keep it running well. I understand it is made in China, not France, but if it is well made, that is not a concern. I was concerned about that because I have another watch made in China that keeps terrible time, losing about 15 minutes a day. That one doesn't even have a regulator that can be moved to make it faster or slower. I love the skeleton look of this watch and I think it is very attractive. I have had it for about a week now, and it keeps excellent time. That of course, was what I was looking for. I wear it to work and everywhere else so I need a watch that keeps good time. I noticed some of the other reviewers stated that the watch was junk and broke after a short time. I will definitely revisit this review if anything breaks, but I don't expect it to break.

Beware, this watch is VERY small. Looks a lot smaller than pictured. One thing I liked is that it ticks very loudly, which is fun if you want the attention of the people around you. Whipping it out in a quiet place is a good way to start a conversation because the ticking cannot go unnoticed and someone is bound to inquire about why you're old fashion watch. Unfortunately it just died on me one day. Just stopped working :(

I prefer a pocket watch to a wrist watch, also prefer a mechanical watch with no battery to replace, and so at first was quite pleased with this model. It was comfortable and worked well, but after five months it just died. It stopped running a couple of hours after winding it one morning and placing in my pocket, and will no longer wind. The watch was always treated well and was never over-wound; it should have lasted longer than just a few months. Although it has warranty coverage, given the purchase price it's not worth the time and expense to ship it round-trip to the manufacturer for repair. I've ordered another brand as replacement. This watch might do for occasional use, but not for everyday.
