This one will soften up after a few washes, that I have yet to do. I use these for Snow shoeing & Bicycleing and they are also, eventually, very comfortable with nothing else on, just this. It is cotton lined to the knees but twin lined below the knew with the same material as the outer shell.
Bought another one, this time Red. As b4, they are nice...Thank you Gang
Pull string is just fine...Next order with be Red.
The quality is excellent and these are overall great pants for my need.
-3 pockets (hard to find these days), 2 front pockets (no zipper), and one back pocket (right cheek) with a zipper;
-zipper on the ankles (nice long zippers that makes it easy to take these wind pants off over your sneakers if you want);
-nice cotton liner which should give it a warmer touch during the colder winter months (however, they are not thick like ski pants);
-thicker outer nylon used - not like the cheap nylon pants you now find at big box athletic stores;
-very good cinching cord system for the waist;
-built with a little bit of wiggle room - just a tad roomier than other wind pants I have owned (I would NOT recommend ordering a smaller size - just expect a little more room);
-I'm really stretching here to find a con, but it did take 1 1/2 weeks delivery with the "Free Shipping" from the Charles River Store in North Carolina to Middle Georgia (that's why I ordered these in the fall - if you want it faster, pay the extra shipping).
I was impressed when I received these wind pants - very high quality pants, with all the correct features that I look for that are built-in (like you used to be able to get - "Old School"). Strongly recommended.
I just bought and received one pair of Charles River apparel rigger lined pants. As a trial, a test. The Charles River pants look fine, they feel comfortable, and they are better made than my 2 older pair. I can already tell that they are warmer than the older pair. And that I suspect that I probably will be able to use them down to the 0° – 10° range and be comfortably warm.IMO, a good product, good value, a good buy.
