Essentially, the silicone lid acts as a large suction cup which creates an airtight seal that insulates both hot and cold foods, deters pests, and preserves freshness and flavor.

Update: I am upgrading my review to four stars. While these did not perform as expected as a large coffee mug cover, they are PERFECT small pot holders! The heavier finger silicone pot holders are too much most of the time. But, these little guys are great for small jobs! I am still not satisfied with the sunflower small covers as the petals are translucent and not the solid bright yellow of the larger sizes.

Original review: I have both the Hibiscus and Sunflower covers in various sizes. I like them.

I purchased a pair of the 4" ones specifically to cover our large coffee mugs when we are outdoors for breakfast on the patio. They do look cute on top of the mugs.

If I pushed gently on the center flower once it was in place, it created a soft suction.

The reason I won't be buying anymore of this size for myself or for gifts is that when I took
the cover off, it dipped into my coffee and then I had a drippy disc that I needed to dry off. I think the problem is that this disc is extremely thin. It isn't as thick as the larger sizes. I practiced putting the lid on and taking it off numerous times, but still had the same problem frequently.

There was also an issue of condensation. What does one do with the lid while drinking? Hold it, put it upside on the table (condensation runs off) or maybe try to just lift it up a little bit and drink with the lid in place. None of those solutions work for me. Frankly, a stainless insulated mug with a lid is a much better solution for a mug of coffee that you want to
use outdoors and keep covered.

Until they make the 4" ones a little thicker, I plan to stick with the larger discs. The larger discs are better.

They suction down around the edge of the plate or bowl you are covering, and provide a seal for overnight in a not too packed fridge. If anything touches the edge, it breaks the seal, so this is not a product for a household with young kids. I do feel I will reduce my plastic wrap use as a result of this product, and I like the fact I can see into the bowl. I've hung them on the inside of the cabinet with command hooks, so These are now easy to get at and also to store without taking extra space.

Fantastic product. My daughter had a baby and I told her about a safe baby wipe recipe she could make for wipes. I finally found a large cylindrical glass jar that could hold a roll of paper towels (cut in half horizontally) but needed a lid that would make it airtight. I ordered one of these and it works perfectly. It's easy to remove while changing the baby and can be replaced easily. When she ran out of baby wipes and had to buy commercial wipes, the baby got a rash, so I keep her supplied with the ingredients for the baby wipes and little guy has no rashes at all now. Yeah of those little lids that can go over a container and make an airtight seal.

I love these silicone covers, not only do they work when you microwave something, but I use them all the time in the fridge when I have a large bowl that didn't come with a cover to cover my food and help keep it fresh. It's a huge plus that they come in fun floral patterns, this one is especially pretty! I bought this one for my mom, she was jealous of mine when she came to visit so I bought her this one, I really loved this hibiscus pattern, and the pink is so pretty!
These really do work well, you honestly can pick some bowls up by the lid and not have the bowl fall down, the suction can be that good! I would recommend these! I like that they are washable and reusable so I don't feel like I'm adding more trash to the land fill if I'm using saran wrap or tin foil. Love these!

So Pretty!

These are wonderful delight to use. Finally something really pretty as well as functional. I actually suction them to the front of the microwave glass. They have a little loop to hang if you like. These small ones are for mugs and cups of liquid. they are thinner than the larger sized ones.

The one thing that is tedious is that they do seem to absorb the smell of your food. and the cute handle is hollow allowing food to pop up in there and stick. So pretty I can't seem to take away a star for this. They make other flowers and colors but I liked this one the best. This brand is sold at BED BATH & BEyond if you want to see and touch them first.

TIP: I am a big user of white vinegar and baking soda so this usually takes care of smell issues.

A Really Great Invention

We use these to keep those darn little bugs out of wine glasses and other beverages in the summertime. Great for use outdoors if you or your guests have phobias about bugs in their drinks. These seal the glass rim tight and keep what you're drinking fresh and clear of whatever may want to drop in for a little swim. There are similar products to these available, but I find this particular version to have a softer silicone and it works the best at conforming to the glass rims. Super easy to clean and use over and over. Great invention!

Work well as lids on most mixing bowls

I purchased these lids as covers for my OXO mixing bowls. They works great for that purpose and do give an airtight seal, and I can safely store marinated meats and other food items in the fridge.

They look great on the serving table. The Hibiscus lids are also transparent so you can see whats inside the bowls without taking them off.

What I don't like about them:
- Be careful to not store the bowls in tight spaces as the lids come off easily if even touched on the sides.
- They retain water marks which can look shabby.
- The Charles Viancin logo that runs down along the radius is too loud.. should have been more discrete.
