Charleston Tides is a fitting and beautiful end to the Torn Asunder series. In Southern Rain, Shannon and John Thomas meet and fall in love. But then, the Civil War tears them asunder, literally and figuratively, for years. In Northern Fire, the reader sees in vivid detail how love can overcome even a bloody conflict when love is strong enough. And Charleston Tides? This last book focuses on how love mends and emerges stronger than before. Shannon grew as a character throughout the series as did John Thomas.
That's one part of this story. The series also details the sometimes parallel (sans war) story of Adeline and Adrian, two people thrust together by circumstances that throw them for a loop. But as with Shannon and John Thomas, Adrian and Adeline also submit to love while discovering themselves and their deepest wants.
This series isn't just romance; the historical component is strong and well-researched. I recommend this series for lovers of romance and historical romance.
