A case of mistaken identity leads him to meet the girl of his dreams. But she's his brother's pen pal...
Chocolate heiress Genevieve “Vivi” Hathaway is a prisoner in the gilded cage that is Charleston’s high society. She finds solace in two things: the garden her mother tended before she passed away, and her pen pal’s letters. While her father has planned to find her a comfortable life close to home, Vivi has sworn to her pen pal that they’ll run away and start anew together.
Jacob Cartwright is a prisoner, too. It seems he’ll be forever chained to his gambling-addicted brother, Tobias, with no hope of starting a family of his own. He’s almost made his peace with it until he discovers Tobias has wooed a girl across the pond in America—and has been using Jacob’s poetry to do it. That won’t do. But after traveling across the Atlantic to clean up his brother’s mess, Jacob is utterly enchanted by the bold, bright, red-headed Vivi, and neither she nor her father will give him a minute to explain the situation.
It’s at the World’s Fair that all will be revealed. Will Jacob and Vivi sacrifice everything they know—and the lives they wanted for themselves—to be together? Or will Jacob be sent back across the Atlantic by a heartbroken Vivi?
A clean, sweet, standalone romance set during the Charleston Exposition in 1902. Scroll up and fall in love with Megan Fuentes's World's Fair romances.

About the author

When Megan Fuentes isn't visiting what her mother calls “la-la land,” she lives in Orlando with her boyfriend, a kitten rescued from a dumpster, and a lot of books she swears she’ll read when she “gets a minute,” whatever that means. Her favorite things in the world include iced coffee, office supplies, and telling you about those things. And writing, too. And lists!

Jacob Cartwright has had his hands full with trying to keep his brother from the gambling and drinking halls. When he discovered his brother Tobias had been communicating with a woman in America, he was surprised. Finding out he was engaged to that woman and that he had been sending her copies of Jacob's poetry pretending he had written them made him very upset. Not wanting to break this woman's heart, he still had Tobias write to her ending their relationship. When an invitation comes fro Tobias to sail to America to meet with her- the brothers plan on going together. Unfortunately Tobias gambles away his ticket for the trip and Jacob decides to go by himself to straighten out the situation. Falling in love with Vivi had not been part of his plan- explaining to her that he was not the man writing the letters was not so easy to do.
Genevieve “Vivi” Hathaway wants something different than her high society upbringing would allow her. She has always wanted to have her own floral shop as she had inherited the love of flowers and plants from her deceased mother. Her pen pal Joseph seems to understand her love as she can see through the beautiful poetry he sends her in his letters. When the opportunity comes for her to finally meet the man she has come to love- there are some things different about him than she expected. But their love of flowers and their discussions of their meaning is still the same. What will Vivi do when she discovers that her Joseph is actually not the man she has been writing to?
