About Charley Descoteaux
Charley Descoteaux is the author of the Buchanan House Love Stories. Book One is a USA Today Must-Read Romance.
Charley has always heard voices. She was relieved to learn they were fictional characters, and started writing when they insisted daydreaming just wasn't good enough. In exchange, they've agreed to let her sleep once in a while. Charley has survived earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods, but couldn't make it through a single day without stories.
Charley also writes under the pen name Charli Coty. Under that name you'll find LGBTQIA+ fiction that's a little different but always has a happy ending.

It took Ross Jensen ten months to lose 98 pounds, but the day he makes Lifetime in Weight Watchers he loses another 220 in an instant when his boyfriend dumps him. He'd never heard of a “chubby chaser,” but he’d been living with one for a year. Ross's BFF offers him her guest room and drags him out to her favorite sex club. Warnings: This book features a corporate sensitivity trainer with an agenda, an awesome gal-pal, a sexy Japanese rope artist, and the unconventional sex club of my dreams.

Nesting Habits
Dec 27, 2019
$3.99
Phil Brask spends his days in the basement of his mentor's Victorian home, converting legal documents into electronic format. When the pipe feeding the water heater bursts, Lee Redding arrives in the plumber’s truck and draws Phil away from the narrow focus of his computer and camera lens. Lee gives Phil hope for a life beyond the walls he’s constructed using the nesting habits of migratory birds and dense legal files, a guided tour through a world filled with romance and music…maybe even family. But there’s a reason Phil retreated behind those walls, why he panics at a simple touch.
Lee has a good life—working with his uncle and on his mother’s farm, playing bass in a horrible metal band, and hooking up when he pleases—but he’s always suspected something was missing. When he meets the hot photographer with the icy-blue eyes, he knows exactly what that something is. Phil isn’t like other guys, but neither is Lee beneath his carefree exterior. Maybe Lee's the perfect guy to show Phil that everything doesn’t have to be done the hard way and "home" isn't a four-letter word.
This is the 2nd Edition of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds; content has not been significantly altered.

The Devil's in the Details & Other Stories
Oct 14, 2020
$2.99
The Devil's in the Details & Other Stories--three paranormal Dark Romances featuring characters with shaky moral compasses as they get their Happily Ever Afters.
The Devil's in the Details
James is on the run from the Key West Coven and the job he never wanted: enforcer. Portland, Oregon, is as far away as he could get and still be in the US, and since he doesn't have a passport or a way to get one, that's where he stopped. James knows his freedom is anything but secure, so he's not surprised when his proximity alarm alerts him that he's being followed. He's jumped under the Burnside Bridge and wakes in iron shackles that prevent him from using magic. Marshall knows too much about his father's business dealings with the supernatural underworld. He never would have guessed that knowledge could get him kidnapped. When a witch in iron shackles is tossed into his cell, his life changes forever. The pair will have to work together if they're to escape with their lives.
Warnings/Temptations: violence, inappropriate flirting, tattoos of dead languages, and innovative spellwork.
Upwardly Mobile
Riley MacIntyre can't write, and it's driving him mad. A serious head injury silenced the voices of characters in his head, and nothing he's done has helped. After 440 days of silence and insomnia, Riley receives an invitation from the proprietor of a local business, whose pitch is that he can fix anything. Riley needs to resume his career writing mystery novels, but having a man on a late-night commercial set an appointment is, to say the least, unexpected.
Don Cross is a fixer. He's also a lonely crossroads demon. When Riley visits him hoping to have his writer's block fixed, Don makes him an unusual deal.
Warnings/Temptations: off-page murders and violence, depictions of descent into both figurative and literal Hell, a dapper crossroads demon, and an asexual man who expresses his romantic feelings using baked goods.
The Haunting of Elkins House
Dave Lehman lost his partner to cancer seven years ago and is still grieving. He's jogging with a neighbor's dog on the winter solstice when he receives a life-changing invitation.
Elkins House has been abandoned for over a century. So who is inviting Dave inside?
Warnings/Temptations: suicidal ideation, a disobedient dog, and a few drops of blood.

Kyle Shimoda is a jerk magnet, has been for as long as he can remember. At forty-seven, he doesn’t see much chance for improving his luck in love. His friends who run Buchanan House, a gay retreat on the central Oregon coast, know he wants to find “someone nice” to settle down with, and they set him up with Officer Brandon Smith. Kyle has a turbulent history with law enforcement, but he can’t deny his attraction to the buff cop.
Brandon has been a police officer in Lincoln City almost since the day he graduated from high school over thirty years ago. He’s cultivated the facade of a serious, disciplined law enforcement officer, but beneath his overdeveloped chest beats the soft heart of a drama queen. A cancer scare shifts Bran’s focus from finding a serious relationship to having as much sex as he can—putting his goals squarely at odds with Kyle’s. If he can’t find the courage to be honest about his feelings for Kyle, the happiness they’ve both been searching for could slip through their fingers.

Chase Holland spends his days painting Portland scenes to hang in local businesses, neglecting his own surrealist style. After twenty-five years as a full-time artist, he’s frustrated that his career has stalled, but churning out the equivalent of corporate art is better than getting a day job. Chase and Garrett have been together—off and on, but mostly on—for a decade. If asked, they would both say the source of their trouble is the seventeen-year age gap. The truth is less clear-cut. Life would be so much easier if Chase could make a living with his own art, or if Garrett held less conventional ideas about relationships.
Garrett Frisch has been watching their friends get married for the past two years, and it’s taking an emotional toll. When he proposes as a way to keep them together permanently, he thinks he’s being responsible, but Chase is ambivalent and hurt and can’t hide it. It doesn’t help that Garrett’s anxiety is out of control and he’s dealing with insecurities about his own art career. They will have to do their least favorite thing—talk about something more important than which food cart to visit—if they are to get the happy ending they both want.

They will have to do their least favorite thing—talk about something more important than which food cart to visit—if they are to get the happy ending they both want.

Colin Page, community college student and apple-polisher, has a secret. He sees things that aren’t there.
Unfortunately, the Doc Martens on the floor of his apartment building's mail vestibule really are there and attached to a local artist. Most people scare Colin—he reads their intentions and past deeds as easily as their hair color or the purple murder fog curling away from the body. Private Investigator Alonzo Green, with his forest green aura, isn’t scary, even after he reveals his knowledge of Colin’s abilities.
Despite his low-power mind, Alonzo is determined to right the wrongs he unknowingly caused. He’s also hopelessly smitten. He knows it’s wrong to let Colin work on the investigation but also knows Colin can help in ways nobody else can.
Colin and Al’s investigation takes them from Portland to Seattle and San Francisco but their journey into each other's arms is much shorter.
Warnings: This book contains violence, dubcon, mind control, and sex magic.

Former physical therapist and reluctant loner Ian Bowen has spent the three years since his grandfather’s death searching for a man to inspire him to park his Harley—without much hope of finding him. Terrible ideas are one of Ian’s specialties so when he shows up for a Toy Run in Oregon and finds ice instead of rain, he’s not surprised. Ian meets Ed Gonzalez, another loner with a pile of toys lashed to his bike, and a few beers at the end-of-the-run party turn into an invitation to Ed’s for homebrew. Instead of a hot hookup, the unseasonable cold renders Ed immobile with pain. Before Ed can get to his meds, Ian massages Ed’s pain away, allowing him a restful night’s sleep and creating intimacy neither wants to lose. Ian thinks two men have to follow certain rules to be together, but Ed’s prepared to show him how wrong he is.
