This episode focuses on desire and reward. They summarize the dopominergic system in the brain and explain what goes on when we experience pleasure or anticipate pleasure. Addiction is discussed (i.e. food, sex and drug) and gambling addiction is mentioned but the focus was on drug addiction.

There was a part in the discussion that I would have left out or suggested that something be not said or discussed. During the discusion on addiction, Dr. Volkow starting talking about obesity and addiction to food despite the fact that there was one obese gentleman on the panal (Dr. Salzman of Columbia). While Dr. Volkow was talking about food addiction and obesity, the camera was not turned to Dr. Salzman who I think would have been visiably uncomfortable or embarrased. I was thinking to myself, "poor guy I'm sure he didn't like to hear those things". They should have focused more on gambling addiction since one of the panal members was obese. Another interesting part was when Dr. Kandel starting talking about sexual addiction the Coolidge effect and male copulartory behavior. Dr. Volkow immediately started talking about obesity and food addiction again. This tells me that she probably felt a little uncomfortable talking about sex being that she was the only woman in the presence of men.

This Series has answered most of my questions about my headaches. Future research in brain science is necessary if one is to get a complete picture of the problems.
