Ok...yes, I was kinda paranoid to purchase...so, I ran out to the store and purchase the same store product. Indeed, my Amazon rolls appear smaller. I also noticed there is 'hassle free' packaging. So I decided to compare by weight. The store rolls weigh the same as the Amazon roll.

Now, I am not a toilet paper scientist by no means...I am just ordinary folk. But, since both rolls weigh the same amount, I am just guessing that the store rolls are wound on looser to make the roll appear bigger to the consumer. A consumer is apt to buy the 'bigger is better roll'.

Because if the both weigh the same, then they are the same (in my mind). In addition, to cement things even more for me...BOTH the store bought packaging AND the Amazon state the same amount of TP on the roll.

So, there you have it...just a trick of presentation at the store versus the hassle free packages.

:)

P.S. I do not work for PG, although I may have a tiny stock investment.

Edit: Please Note: this is the Charmin Ultra STRONG product which has 330 sheets per roll. Not be be confused with the Charmin Ultra SOFT with 352 sheets per roll (these products can easily be confused and have been by some posting on here).

These are not the retail packages you get in a store. They are OEM style, "special edition" versions. In English, this means they are made specifically for discount outlets or mass purchasers (i.e. hotels) and are inferior quality wise to the retail equivalents. In this case, there's just not as much toilet paper as you'd get in the full retail packaged versions of these. I was in shock at how small the box was when it arrived. I was seriously thinking it would be in a huge, hard to carry, type of box due to the huge rolls it was supposed to be but that wasn't the case, not at all the case. Very deceiving and they weren't this way before. Amazon really needs to alter the description title to reflect "OEM" in it or "Special Edition" to let consumers know what they are getting.

I just received this order yesterday and the rolls are smaller than my last order. I actually took them out and held them back to back to compare. Also I paid $1.36 a roll and the last time it was a little over a dollar, Buyer Beware!!!!

A comparison of Charmin's Ultra Soft versus Ultra Strong:

* Ultra Soft is too soft. The following falls squarely (har, har) into the realm of TMI, but you're the one reading a toilet tissue review, so I assume you've assumed the risk here - the wiping power of the UltraSoft roll is not sufficient. The paper tears too easily during use and doesn't seem to have sufficient "pick up" and "wipe off" power for your ... umm... dirtier jobs. (Note: I regularly use Charmin Ultra Strong, so perhaps I've simply gotten used to that type of paper. I admit Charmin Ultra Strong isn't quite as soft as Charmin Ultra Soft, so you may like Ultra Soft if you prefer softness over strength. That said, all Charmin is soft, so how can you go wrong?).
* Ultra Soft tears and fails to clean as well as the Charmin Ultra Strong (see above).

Compared to other brands (esp. the sandpaper used by my in-laws, office, stores, etc.), Charmin is the KING of toilet tissue in my opinion. That said, I recommend that you try Ultra Soft and Ultra Strong and see which you prefer.

I thought I was getting a pretty decent deal without having to go out in busy stores until the products arrived. I have this identical product brand/size tissue in my closet and will be taking comparison photos. This is NOT a mega roll. These are A LOT smaller.. about equal to the size of a double roll. The package might say mega but these are NOT. I am very unhappy with this Amazon purchase. Ridiculous deceptive and false advertising.

charmin is supposed to be noted for not leaving bits of paper behind, pun intended!

ive bought this for years and my last purchase is horrible. bits of paper left behind.

i know the roll size was messed up as numerous raters report, but i got this cuz it is still the basic mega roll, but if you dont mind walking around w/ tissue on your arse this is ok

Take a look at the photos and you'll see exactly what everyone is talking about. The "bulk, generic branding for commercial use" shows the standard retail packaging, the second and third photos show the actual product with plain label and then the box. Note the measurements (sq. m and length of roll as well as # of sheets on each box) This is deceptive advertising at best and is illegal. The product shown MUST be the actual product delivered unless labeled as such. As thee are two different products in the photos and one is larger than the other, labels are different, you have no idea which product you are getting. I had a couple of friends each order and we compared what we got to the grocery store product we normally buy. They are not the same quality, size or volume. If you are paying premium pricing, I expect the premium product. We decided we were better off using coupons and catching the local grocery sale than ordering paper product from Amazon. We compared Bounty towels as well and they are higher priced than in grocery store on any given day. Sorry if you have to depend on Amazon to deliver, buyer beware. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PEHKAG/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title
