As an ex-pat who has lived in Colombia for 9 years and who has considered visiting Ecuador, I really enjoyed this book. I especially enjoyed the author's style of writing. I was only expecting a guide book of Ecuador but the author delivered so much more, from the touching story of a daughter who she lost to the struggles to obtain an Ecuadorian visa for herself and her son. Her style of writing made me feel as if I was in Cuenca, Loja or Guayaquil. If you're looking for a book about life in Ecuador written from the viewpoint of a North American, you will truly enjoy this book.
