About the Author

I'm a wife, a mom, and a dog lover. I'm also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker, and my kids’ biggest fan in anything they do. I’m married to my high school sweetheart... how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a b*%ch who slaps back hard and mean people suck. I'm California born and raised, and I love the beach but hate the sand. And, of course, I believe Starbucks makes any day better. I’m the author of The Acceptance Series and Chasing Cassidy with more books soon to come.

Chasing Cassidy is another hit by D. Kelly. D. delivers a heartfelt story that will leave you reflecting for days. Chasing Cassidy and its characters has the talent of entering your soul and piercing you heart. Readers see the extreme length a man will go to show the woman he loves her worthiness. Chasing Cassidy is a modern day version of Runaway Bride.

On what is supposed to be a joyful day Cassidy is struggling with her self worth. Every girl dreams of the fairy tale wedding. For Cassidy, she wants a small intimate gathering not the hustle and bustle of a high end gathering. Believing she is not worthy of Zach, Cassidy runs. Little does Zach know that outside factors played in the leaving of Cassidy. Zach will need to fight the biggest fight of his life to show Cassidy all that their love encompasses.

D. Kelly knows how to give a novel that will have the readers swooning for the man that Zach represents. Fans will see another great story by D. that shows the strength that love gives to two deserving people. The characters involved in Chasing Cassidy add richness to the story line. The conflicts are not over the top, yet they are heartbreaking. Cassidy has demons that will take the love of her friends to overcome. Can Zack help Cassidy rid herself her past?

Yes! D.Kelly is back with a new book and new characters and wow. I have missed reading a book by her. This book was written beautifully. Between the laughing and crying I finished this before I knew it. Then, I got upset because I finished it.

Cassidy Pope moved into her grandmother house after she passed away. Once they moved in her world changes and not for the better. Her father started drinking and became both physically and mentally abusing her. The only thing that makes living there good is her 2 best friends. Zachary and Rylee. Cassidy spends all her time at their house.

Zack knew the minute he saw Cassidy dad beating her in the back of their car that he needed to protect her. The next day he sent his sister to go see if Cassidy could come out and play was the best thing he ever did. They became best friends and he fell in love with her.

Cassidy grew up with Zack and Rylee. Both of their families were rich. Zack, Rylee and Cassidy all went to a great school. That was the only thing her parents did for her. They drank away the rest of it. Even though she grew up with the Stafford family she never felt like she belonged with that type of surroundings.

Zack and Cassidy had been together and in love. Zack did his best to show Cassidy how much he loves her and only her. That without her his life wouldn't be the same. He finally got her to agree to marry him and that's when things took a turn.

Cassidy already felt like she didn't belong in his world. His mother spent every waking moment to remind Cassidy she's not good enough to be a Stafford. On their wedding day Cassidy looks in the mirror and all she hears is everything Zack mom has been saying to her and everything her dad has said.

If you have read the Acceptance Series by Dee Kelly, you KNOW that she does not disappoint. From the moment I got the first sneak peak of Chasing Cassidy I was absolutely excited. And once again, Dee does NOT disappoint!

Cassidy Pope has a complicated past. At the age of 6, young Cassidys father began to verbally and physically abuse her. Cassidy was shown no love and affection be either parent. Being told she is unlovable, and that love does not exist. After witnessing Cassidys first beating, Cassidys neighbor, Zachary Stafford, made it his mission to befriend her. The best part of her life is her friendship with Zachary and his twin sister, Rylee. As years pass, Cassidy and the Stafford twins become best friends. And Cassidy not only gives Zack her friendship. but her love as well. Although Cassidy tries to play strong, the years of abuse have turned Cassidy into a woman filled with insecurities who doesn’t believe she deserves love.

"A bride shouldn't be sad on her wedding day."

But on the day of their wedding, Cassidys insecurities are heightened. Looking at herself in the mirror, she sees beauty, but her eyes, they are sad. 300 guests waiting at the most lavish and exquisite wedding, a huge wedding Cassidy didn't want. She believes he deserves better, someone who can live up to his mothers expectations, someone to thrive being a part of his social circle, someone who fits into the high-status life life which accompanies being a Stafford, not a measly Kindergarten teacher. Thanks to Zacks mother, Priscilla Stafford, Cassidy is constantly reminded that this is not her, she is not good enough for Zack. And minutes before the wedding, Cassidy does what she does best, runs!

I didn’t know what to expect when diving into Chasing Cassidy. I was a little afraid because in the past D. Kelly has left me a sobbing mess, I wanted to read this badly but I was seriously afraid of another ugly cry. I’m happy to report that I did get choked up at times and get teary eyed, but no ugly cry for me while reading about Cassidy and Zack. I did get angry many times, but Ms. Kelly gave us another amazing story about two people who truly love each other but were put in a crappy situation with an evil mother standing in the way of true happiness. Cassidy leaves Zack at the alter, Zack is her one true love and the man she’s always loved.

“My life isn’t complete without you in it. I know love is real because of you. I am loved because of you, and most importantly I can love because of you.”

This was written very well, the characters were developed well enough where I was able to fall in love with them and feel what they were feeling. Cassidy is a broken girl who has always tried her best to live her life and move forward with people who cared about her. There is abuse, Cassidy has been abused by her father most of her life and this is a story about how a woman tries to overcome the emotional and physical abuse she’s live through. Zack is a beautiful human with a huge heart, he’s sexy, rich and absolutely amazing. Cassidy is a fool to have left him, but I also can understand that there are other factors weighing in. I enjoyed reading Cassidy and Zack’s story and I’m sure others will love it as well. Ms. Kelly always gives me the warm and fuzzies as well as the ugly cry, but Chasing Cassidy was all about the warm and fuzzies and I enjoyed every second of it.

“You own my heart and soul. I’m yours, too…forever.”
