She is a woman who has checkered past and is now working hard to put her time working as a bartender.
Cooper Krenshaw is a famous country singer that has found his way into Devil's Bend. He is friends with Tessa's older brother, Adam. Cooper is a bit tired and disillusioned from his fame as a country singer and is interested in hanging out in the small bar and singer there to get back to small town roots and singer for smaller crowds.
Okay - so far so good. Tessa immediately catches Cooper's attention. She is pretty, independent, strong and fiesty. Cooper is talented, sexy and a generally good guy.
This book focuses mainly on these two and how their relationship grows and they trust each other and fall in love.
I really wanted to love this book - but just couldn't understand why their 'secrets' were really that big of a deal.
I couldn't stand how Cooper had to keep Tessa from running away. She would try to get up and leave Cooper every time something got uncomfortable for her.
She is a strong woman. She breaks up fights. She stands up to her brothers.
Yet - she constantly is attempting to run away from Cooper. It's annoying.
For example, they are chatting about ideas for the farm and Tessa mentions a petting zoo. Cooper laughs. She gets super pissy and upset. Are you kidding me? He wasn't cruel about it. She is supposed to be a strong person. Why does she get so upset so easily?
After awhile, I started to wonder what exactly Cooper saw in Tessa. Seems like he deserves someone more sassy, strong, independent and secure. She got a bit wimpy.
Towards the end she started to develop more of a spine. But it was too late for her to redeem herself in my eyes.
Also, Cooper and Tessa act like that have MAJOR horrible bad things in their past..I was gearing up for something bad. But it was pretty minimal. Nothing huge.
It was a fizzle.
Some things just didn't make sense. There is a HUGE deal with something Adam decides to do. Then, we don't hear from him at all throughout the book. He appears at the end for a second, but it's obvious that it's a set up for another book.
I liked Izzy a lot (Tessa's crazy friend). She seemed to stay true to her character. Crazy. Says what she wants to and doesn't care. Liked her a lot.
Yes - there were a few steamy sex scenes. But it wasn't enough to make me feel like these two characters really bonded with each other.
Cooper can get amazing sex at any time. What made it special with Tessa? Yeah, she rejected him at first. But is it just the chase. She didn't hold out for very long....For such a long book - I didn't feel the connection there.
Overall it was okay to read.
Has a happy ending.
I would love to know more about the brothers. They seemed to have potential to be more interesting than Tessa.
Just really don't like characters that run away from difficult situations. Talk it out! Fight it out. But the passive, feel sorry for myself, running away without letting the other person explain just makes me nutty. She didn't successfully run away from Cooper b/c he kept grabbing her arm or telling her to 'stay'. Just the fact that he had to keep doing that was annoying...
The plot twists were not very interesting nor gripping. Just seemed contrived to me.
Not super interesting.

Every time I've read Nicole Edward's Alluring Indugence series I was left breathless. Her books are phenomenal. So when I read Chasing Dreams, I expected to be blown away and left feeling extremely hot and bothered. I can tell you that this book didn't disappoint in that department and left me very hot and bothered because she can write one hell of a love scene.
Alright Ladies, do not shoot the messenger but I have to say Chasing Dreams was not my favorite book from Nicole Edwards. It really surprised me that this story is so different from her other books. I describe her other books as so sexy that you can feel it dripping from the words written on the page.
The book had great content and concept was good, but I was not feeling the explosive connection with the characters that I have with her other books. I usually feel like I can't wait for the next book involving her supporting characters. Unfortunately, this time I do not have the same interest. For me, this story just felt like to many of the other stories out there in the market now. There was nothing setting it apart from being compared to what has become the norm with this type of story and to the other series from her that I have read.
We can't always love everything all the time. It just happens. I don't love every episode of a TV show I watch but I still go back to it the next week.
I am a fan of this Author's work and I always will be. I still plan to read any book she ever writes. I enjoyed the story overall and as always it was well written. I am thrilled I got a chance to read it because WTF, it is a Nicole Edwards book!!!
