Frankly, I had no idea it could be so difficult and I remain certain that I do not possess either the will or the capacity to undertake such an enormous responsibility. The loss due to financial ruin, not to mention the mental aggravation, could not have been more evident in the author's real-life account of tale after tale, and hair raising events that you simply cannot imagine unless you've been there. Reading Chasing Lilly will give you a first hand account of what life will be like when you choose a foster child. True, not all foster children are as disturbed as Lilly, but it is a wonderful thought that some have the intestinal fortitude (that I have not) to forge a life of compassion for such a young girl. And with no hope of acknowledgement or return of any gratitude, they gave of themselves, even when they had little to give. It is an amazing story of love and devotion; but while I was reading it I must confess, I had disturbing nights of fitful sleep. I resorted to reading it during the day so I wouldn't be so restless.
Again, if you are considering becoming a foster home, I encourage you to read Chasing Lilly. If you are not, read it, and gain a new understanding of these heroes amongst us.
wait until I turned the last page. I laughed and cried through the pages as the story of Lilly's life unfolded. Nealie Rose
