I LOVE this story!!! I can't give it enough stars or stress how this isn't a typical young adult romance story!

While this story starts out like some of the other typical stories you read, it grows into a plot that holds SO much more than what you expected. Hayes and Mac are two high school students that lead very different life styles and are definitely from two different sides of the tracks in their small town. Hayes is the typical football player jock that likes to party and sleep around. Mac comes from a very rough home lifestyle but still works hard to succeed and be the best person she can be. They finally overcome some fears and become the best couple you could hope for but then it's shattered.

I can't stress how much I loved Hayes and his personality throughout this story! Of course, that's after he meets Mac. He goes against the grain and pursues the girl that isn't what everyone else expects and follows his own path, which can be tough as a HS boy, especially in a public spotlight.

Mac, oh this poor sweet girl! I HATE her parents but love her and her strength. This entire story speaks volumes about how girls can survive and overcome some pretty terrible and serious obstacles in life even at such a young age. Mac shows silent strength, hope, and grace in what she goes through throughout this entire story. To me, she is the epitome of a heroine for females to look at and see that a bad situation or several bad situations do not define who you are and that you can be anyone you want to be.

I won't lie, there were a few points you are like "OMG, why?!" or "Seriously?!" BUT, it makes it real. No one I know led a perfect and stupid decision free life at 17-18 years old.

Mackenzie is starting her senior year of high school in yet another school. Her and her parents move a lot, usually after her dad loses his job and they can’t pay their bills. Also getting out of bed and feeling sore is unfortunately, not a new thing either. Her father takes out his frustrations of unemployment on liquor bottles and her, usually with his fists.
Sitting in class on the first day of school, she is befriended by a sweet girl, Miranda. She fills Mackenzie in on the senior class and helps to ease the nervousness that comes with being the new kid. A hot guy comes in talking to his friends and sits in front of them. Mackenzie notices how gorgeous the guy is and then Miranda fills her in on Hayes, the hottie in the next row. He is a heartbreaker, sleeping with girls and on to the next, never with the same girl twice. He chats with her, maybe even flirting alittle, but Mackenzie doesn’t need that drama in her life. She plans on keeping Hayes a friend, but that is it.
When Hayes and Mackenzie start spending more time together, their relationship begins to change. The man-whore has reformed and only hangs out with Mackenzie these days. But when pressures from the outside world start affecting their relationship, will they be strong enough to stay together? When you make decisions in the heat of the moment, keeping the truth from the one you love can they ever forgive you and can you forgive yourself?
Great story and I loved Hayes by the end. I understand Mackenzie’s side of things but was so frustrated with the running away. Great characters and HEA, so I am thrilled with the ending. 4.5 stars

This was a really sweet and good book. Mackenzie Blanchard has had a pretty rough life. She has a father that beats her regularly and makes her feel worthless and a mother that doesn't stand up for her at all. She has another year of high school left and then she plans to get away from her terrible parents. She has moved around so many times. Mackenzie's senior year, she meets Hayes Morgan. He's gorgeous but a major player. He sleeps around all the time and doesn't think he's a relationship type of guy. Hayes feels drawn to and wants to protect Mac. He wants to be more with her but doesn't know if he's capable.

Mackenzie is a great girl who has been treated terribly by the people that are supposed to love and protect her. She's put through the ringer but she comes out on the good side of things in the end.

Hayes can be a total jerk to most of the girls and women around. But he loves and will do anything for Mackenzie. The people he loves and care about, he goes out of his way for them.

This book is definitely worth reading.

I really am a sucker for the high school into early college books. I love reading about all the angst and horrible choices being made. It is so easy to connect with the characters because I was there , I was a moron at times !! It is so great to read and watch these characters grow up and overcome the troubles of teenage life. In this particular story some of the troubles are not as common , there is much heartbreak in this story and the characters are faced with a few "adult" type decisions and they may or may not just drive you crazy with their choices. I was hanging on to every word. I started at night and finished the next morning , I only put the book down to grab some sleep !! I am thrilled to get more and see the stories of others come to life !!

Simple storyline-
Mac- girl from the trailer park with a crappy past and horrible family life meets Hayes- popular SUPER HOT boy from the perfect family in the big huge house !!
They form a wonderful friendship that is almost instantly unbreakable. They shock just about everyone but they don't care they love spending time together. Hayes is a player , he loves to sleep around , but he never tries to sleep with Mac , should she be insulted or feel special. Mac is not the type to sleep around and she really is not looking for love. She knows there is a special connection with Hayes but she is fine being friends. Bit by bit they begin to realize their feelings are different and not something they are used to. Mac is dating , Hayes is screwing , but they have this undeniable draw. Finally we get them together but we know high school is full of drama. Not only that but Mac's parents are no good and once Hayes finds out what happens behind closed doors he is not going to let it go.
