- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2014Good game to pass the time when waiting at Drs office or serviceing auto. Enjoy the challenge of the computer and being able to choose the difficulty level.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2012got this onto my kindle keyboard for a fun game that should be simple enough for me or my nephew (10yo) to play. it is pretty simple to move the pieces. and it was even a fun game for me and my beau to play at the airport waiting for our flight. he caught on to the buttons to move pretty quickly (and then proceeded to whoop my you-know-what TWO times before i quit in proper unsportsmanlike behavior!) all in all, you're getting your classic checkers game that should be easy and fun for all.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2014The graphics are too much because they make the screen refresh and lag on PW1 with every move. The AI is ok and game is entertaining for a game or two, but no more.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2012Its a good game. There are just two downsides.
1: Sometimes in the middle of a game when you make a move, it would freeze and you have to go to the home screen and click the game or press home and tap or click go to main menu. Sometimes it doesnt even work then.
2: When your in a game, say you playin in 1 player or 2 player mode, you cant be playing both at the same time. if your doing one mode and want to do the opposite mode, for example your playing a one player game and want to play a two player you cant. You'd have to end the one player game and start the two player, or vise versa.
Other than that its not that bad.
If you dont do not, have patience i would not reccomend this game.
if you are patient then this is the game for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2011For $0.99 I figured I'd give this game a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. Really like the clean interface and the game plays great. The controls are pretty easy and intuitive. I usually prefer using the shortcut keys over the 5 way, but both work well. The Q, W, Z, X keys are set up like a second pad so you can move on the 4 diagonals with one key press. I won my first game, but still haven't beaten it on the higher difficulties. So it seems to have a pretty good spread of skill levels. (It has a two player option, too, but I've only been playing against the machine.) Definitely a solid little game.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2012This game is enjoyable until it freezes, usually when I'm ahead. It must have something to do with the part of the screen I'm touching because it usually happens on one square in particular when I've double jumped.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2011Easy and fun to play, although "Kindle" beat me the first time! My hubby played it this morning and was fussing at the machine the whole time, but he ended up winning his first game, that's all that really matters, haha! Great fun and very well done, well worth 99-cents!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2012Plays a decent game of checkers as far as I'm concerned, although I'm not a serious checkers player. I'm playing on the kindle touch and I find the board + interface to be simple and intuitive. After playing a few games, the best I've been able to do against the computer on the highest level (level 8) is a draw. It still makes its moves very quickly even on the highest level though, so if they wanted to, they could probably add higher levels where it took a bit longer to calculate its move, which would provide more of a challenge for better players. In my opinion that would be a good addition. The current version is fine for casual players though.
One complaint. I mentioned that I played it to a draw, but the game was never officially declared a draw. What happened was that both of us were down to one king, and we kept moving back and forth with neither side making progress. I kept playing for a long time like this to see if the game would eventually be declared a draw but this never happened, so I assume it just doesn't detect draws but will keep playing forever. It becomes obvious after a while that the position is a draw and there's no reason to keep playing, but it would still be nice if the game would declare draws properly according to the rules of checkers.
