That being said, she is only 1 and a half and I wanted to start getting her some daily or every other day treats that could help keep any teeth problems at bay and these had great reviews so we gave them a go.
She ate them and seemed to enjoy them, but after about 3 treats over the course of 4 or 5 days she started throwing them back up a few hours after getting one. It would be thrown up in chunks, and even after not giving her any more of them she continued to throw up for another couple days and wouldn't keep her food down.
She is perfectly fine now after cutting these out of her diet. I still rated these 4 out of 5 because I think my dog is an odd case as far as the sensitivity of her stomach. And I think that for most dogs, these would be perfectly fine, and would probably help to reduce tartar!
We have now been giving her Greenies every few days, and those for some reason do not upset her stomach at all, which is both a relief and a pain (they're much more expensive as we all probably know...)
I wished that these treats had worked out for us, but i'm sure for most people they will!
After reading many, many positive reviews on this product, I decided to spring for Checkups through Amazon. I've been waiting for Costco to bring them back, but no luck. I figured even though it's pricey, clean teeth on a dog is important and it's cheaper and safer than dental cleaning by a vet.
However, my dog is not interested in these. Yes, he put them in his mouth and carries them to his "special places", but then just leaves them there where normally he'll eat his treats. I did try to soften it liKe they say on the package and I broke it in half although my dog is not small or old. I don't know if he ate that one or hid it, but it is gone.
I am concerned about this product because it is very hard and has a strange texture, but the reviews are so good except for the few whose dogs got sick from it. No one said that their dog didn't like it, but maybe I missed something.
I'm thinking that maybe I should give up on it because if he doesn't take to these, maybe there is a good reason.
I wonder if they take these back like Costco would?
