    A toast to "Cheers" (1982–93): eleven seasons, 275 episodes. It's a landmark comedy for all the expected reasons: consistently funny scripts, well defined characters that are well acted by talented comedians. Sam's bar and its regular customers became for many of us a surrogate family, and we welcomed the oddball guests and occasional celebrities who visited the joint.

    The show was slow in finding its audience. Once it did, it stayed in the top twenty for its earliest seasons, slumped somewhat in the middle, then picked back up as it neared conclusion. It was a bit phenomenal in spinning off so many other series, notably "Frasier."

    The remastering of the episodes is great: good video and audio. The product's cardboard case contains two thick plastic binders, with plastic leaves that hold discs laid over discs. As always, it's a challenge to withdraw and replace discs. If you're careful, scratching and security shouldn't be a problem, Each disc is labeled with the episodes it contains.

    "Cheers" can be watched out of continuity, but it's fun to start at the beginning and watch the show evolve as the characters because deeper, quirkier, funnier, and better interrelated with one another.

    If you can find it at an acceptable price, it's sure to return hours of witty entertainment.

    This isn't the place to review the series--that belongs on a site like IMDB. This is a review of the product and I had no trouble with it. All the discs loaded properly and play correctly. I am a bit disappointed about the lack of special features on the set (there are just a couple not-really-all-that-special-features on the first couple seasons, then nothing) and would take off a third of a star for that.
    As to the series, it holds up fairly well. The characters are professionals who ply their craft well. Some of the jokes are dated and wouldn't be attempted in today's climate, but that's true for anything in hindsight.
    Overall, many hours of good times.

    While the discs seem fine and the episodes hold up all these years later, I do have one issue that I'd like to bring to everyone's attention: The plastic case that holds all the discs is the least flexible, most brittle, weakest plastic I've ever experienced. The case snapped in half the very first time I opened the box set, I don't think it actually had the ability to flex in the middle where it needed to in order to open properly.

    If push comes to shove I can always just get one of those disc sleeve book things and keep the DVDs in there instead, but it would've been nice to enjoy the box set in the box set. Show is still as funny as ever though and the price was more than fair.

    I really only wanted to review this to praise the packaging which is impeccable. To clarify I ordered all 11 seasons on Blu-ray and while pricey, I felt if the set was packaged as I'd hoped it would be worth it. I own numerous sets and most have atrocious packaging often requiring DIY casing etc. This set is great because each season is nicely tucked into its own slim Blu-ray case. All 11 cases are in a somewhat flimsy and disposable cardboard box, but the cases are tight and essentially protected. My discs were mint and pristine. The only flaw (aside from the outer cardboard box) I found was a slight crack in one case. Set packaging rarely comes better, so for this reason I most highly recommend the complete Blu-ray set to collectors or any fan of the series.

    I watched a few episodes and compared them to the DVDs. The Blu-rays were far superior. The detail allows you to read fine print in the background, and the images are crisp, even in a home theater. The shows are the full 25 minute broadcast versions, not the shortened cable releases. These are NOT the DVDs transferred to Blu-ray; someone has done some restoration. I noticed details I could not see in the DVDs. Mind you, there are some long shots that are not as crisp, but they are infrequent. There is a slightly noticeable grain sometimes, but nothing unexpected. All in all, I am very happy I upgraded the series and will probably now watch them again (for the first time in HD). Worth the money. It also halves the shelf space, always a plus. It also presents the shows in the correct aspect ratio; you don't have to adjust the display device, as with the DVDs.

    This is a hilarious series with occasionally absurd and original humour. The acting is very solid all-around, even the guest stars or secondary characters.
    However, there are two problems with the video:
    (1) colour space set to auto does not result in proper colour. The skin tones for SOME of the seasons, but not all, is slightly violet and pale. I had to manually change colour space from Auto to Adobe RGB on my TV. My TV is a 2016-17 model Sony 4k Bravia; my player is also a Sony 4K blu-ray player.
    (2) Some portions are not remastered to FHD; they are blu-ray quality or lower and they appear randomly throughout a few small sections of various seasons. I find this quite negligent on the part of the studio/producers of these blu-rays.

    I am very disappointed with this dvd set, somehow new out of the box they had scratches on the disc's, when I went to play the first season in my very expensive pS5, the disk shook so violently in my machine I was worried it would cause damage. The disc never did load, so I tried the second disc of the same season and found it did the same thing. No way I was trying another. Poor quality for for what i paid.
