There were some burrs on the edge of the knife I received. Those burrs prevented the knife from making clean saw-cuts in crusty bread. A few very light swipes on my knife-steel removed the burrs and now the knife saws beautifully thru crusty bread. This is a great bread knife with nice looking thick steel, nice ergonomic handle; and cuts well. Plus, the price for this much quality is so very reasonable on Amazon. I did not deduct any stars for the burrs on the edge because (a) just about everyone with kitchen knives has a sharpening-steel to correct the edge if needed; and (b) at this price point everything else is good as delivered. It is easy to recommend this bread knife for the kitchen.

I purchased this knife from Amazon at full price! It looked good I the picture. I tried the knife on all types of bread , English muffins and bagels.The knife does not slice the item it tears them apart----poor design--- teeth seem way to large. I returned this knife to Amazon today.
I would not recommend this product.

I ordered this knife to use in a professional kitchen for very simple easy bread cuts, i.e. toasted breads. After reading the reviews, it seemed about eight percent of them were saying that it is a great knife, very smooth cuts, and the other twenty percent said the complete opposite. They said it was a terrible knife that tore the bread instead of slicing it as intended. I figured the ones that were negative were expecting a very professional knife that would cut the softest breads with ease and that the knife just wasn't right for that.

However, after getting the knife and using it on plenty of breads, both untoasted and toasted, I've found that the negative reviews were correct. The knife tore through whatever bread it cut. There were no smooth slices. I tried every cutting technique I know of, and all ended in torn.

I would not recommend this knife to anyone looking for a decent knife.

I ordered this for commercial use. We're pretty hard on our equipment, and I've only had this a few days. I ordered 3 different knives to test them, and so far this one is my favorite. We were using Dexter knives, but I don't think they're worth the price. It's a great deal and crazy sharp! I mean, be careful, because it's so sharp. I would, however, prefer a curved blade, and be advised that the large serrations are a little hard on very soft bread. Otherwise I'm happy, I intend to order more.
