we owned a wolfgang puck unit for over 20years and man did that thing last. i can tell this unit will not do as well. its simply not as strong. however, we do like the wide basket, you can put more in it. and its easier to clean. but its a little cheaper built but its also much cheaper to buy. we use it 3 or 4 times a week. its over a year old and still working good.

We bought this to replace a Presto Cooldaddy Fryer (no offense to that trusty little guy—he put in his time), and man was this an upgrade. This has a nice, big fry basket, a fully removable lid, a removable heating element, a timer, and temperature controls.

I like that I can take it apart and put it back together in seconds for easy cleaning, which is great because we’ve been doing a cardiologist-unapproved amount of deep frying since we bought it.

The only thing I’m not in love with is the timer. When it goes off, so does the heating element. Clearly it doesn’t understand that there will be consecutive frying sessions. So, if you’re like me, I suggest setting the timer for way longer than you’re going to need it and use a different timer (like your phone or a kitchen timer) for your actual cook time.

We've tried several fryers and finally gave up. I saw this online and thought to myself, one more time? A fryer for us is only to be used for fried chicken; however when we busted this out, the possibilities are somewhat endless. It has a nice split basket so you could do fish & chips or two different types of fried vegetables? Anyway, the fried chicken came out beautifully! Surprisingly. So, needless to say, we are keeping. I can't really comment on the cooking aspect, as the husband took over, which means he was happy with the product. It does command quite a bit of oil and luckily I had some extra bottles laying around to fill the vessel. So there's some cost buying one of those jugs of oil; but if you fry quite a bit, I'm sure you can recycle the oil if properly strained and stored.
