As an active chef in the kitchen, I rely on this spatula to mix, sauté, spoon, chop (in sauté pan). You can mix a meatloaf, ice a cake, or fry an egg with this spatula (although you better be savvy enough with the pan for over-easy).
I promise, you won't go wrong putting this in your kitchen. Keep it nearby for every meal.
It has a hard core and it ends at just the right point so you have a soft bit where you need it to bend and flex, and the rest can help lift and flip say cooking vegetables, scrambled eggs and omelettes, and pancakes. At the same time, it's soft and gentle to our non-stick pans on the stove-top.
This spatula is a two in one. The big end is replicated at the bottom end in miniature. Both sizes have been very handy.
Its silicone rubberiness is perfect for completely scraping down the edges of liquefied food, for example the entirety of a cake mixture. Nothing needs to be wasted. Nothing left in the bowl to lick.
It is wonderfully heat resistant and dishwasher safe. We have washed it in our machine and its colour has not faded and its shape is maintained. Great little kitchen helper.
We bought ours in June 2014. It is still as-new.
Well, actually there is one exception; the older version, which seemed to be a bit less "soft" around the edges and seemed like it could take a bit more punishment. With the current version, I just take a little care not to fold the ends of the spatula too hard against the metal core, to try and avoid puncturing the silicone surface. I haven't yet, but it seems like it wouldn't be too hard.
This spatula is otherwise perfect for a wide variety of tasks. I use it on a regular basis to:
- Make soft-scrambled eggs
- Spread butter, nutella, peanut butter, and jelly
- Flip fried eggs, pancakes, crepes, parathi, potstickers, and so on.
- Clean the last few servings of yogurt out of half-gallon mason jars
- Get a mixing bowl darn near perfectly clean of whipped cream, crepe batter, dumpling filling
The soft flexible edges let you wiggle and slip this spatula under many things that regular plastic or stiffer silicone spatulas have trouble with, but make this tool less useful for scraping; say, getting bits of stuck egg off the bottom of a pan (I have a wooden spoon or chopsticks for that).
Since it is a single jacket of silicone, cleanup is very simple; a bit of soap and warm water does fine. I simply wash it under water until it doesn't feel oily; I've never put this through a dishwasher. While I assume it's dishwasher safe, I've always needed to use it again well before I get around to running the dishwasher.
