"Cheney One on One" Is a fascinating journey into the mind of one of the most interesting characters of our lifetime. I highly recommend this book. Anyone who is even slightly interested in politics, history, or current events will find this book hard to put down. Mr. Rosen is such a gifted writer. Not being someone who has any problem putting a book down and coming back to it later, I must say that I did find it difficult to put this book down. It captured my interest with every single question and answer. I actually felt like I was sitting right there in the room with Vice President Cheney and James Rosen as this interview was taking place. I found myself grabbed into the conversation and wishing it would go longer.

The style of writing in this book is that of an ongoing interview with "no holds barred" questioning of the Vice President. The questions cover so many fascinating areas of interest including, of course, the events and thought process leading up to, as well as following the Iraq war. They discuss Russia's changing and advancing role in the world as well as the issue of North Korea's nuclear proliferation. VP Cheney reveals with absolute clarity his inner most thoughts on the Obama administration and how its actions, and inactions have, and will continue to affect events centered in the Middle East.

The book takes you from his childhood to present day with very in depth discussion of so many issues that are extremely relevant to the issues of today, including cyber warfare and the United States' place and role in world events. Another very interesting area of questioning in this regard deals with the interaction, relationships, and conflicts that have taken place between the State Department, Defense and the CIA.

One thing that particularly impressed me was the amazing level of research and preparation that Mr Rosen had done in order to effect this three day interview. The number of news reports, other books, and manuscripts that are referenced is beyond anything I have seen before for a book like this. The questioning of the Vice President is direct, thorough and superbly researched. The style in which the book is written makes it so easy to read and definitely keeps the reader's interest. So glad I bought this book and am highly recommending it without a moment's reservation.

A book that challenges and enlightens one's assumptions and expectations of Vice President Cheney

James Rosen's second book "Cheney One on One" will likely operate as a Rohrschach test for people of different political persuasions, and it really should not because this is an accessible, engaging book that allows readers an opportunity to gain a different perspective on Vice President Cheney. Presented in a relaxed Q&A format, Rosen poses challenging and, at times, off-beat questions to Cheney to allow the readers to get a sense of who he is, and how his background and belief system guided and shaped his decisions as a Congressman, Secretary of Defense and, ultimately, Vice President of the United States. Readers expecting a fawning, uncritical celebration of the man will need to look elsewhere as Rosen pointedly and meticulously probes some of the most controversial and divisive aspects of Cheney's tenure as VP to allow the readers a better understanding of those issues. Detractors of Cheney will likely be infuriated reading the book because Rosen effectively underscores who Cheney is as an individual in a way that always reminds the reader of the human dimension that exists within the public image--it may likely challenge the assumptions they have made about the man. The details that Rosen elicits from Cheney concerning his youth, family, and spiritual/religious convictions are amazing in its candor. Also noteworthy is how Rosen gets Cheney to offer his perspective on the numerous public figures he has encountered throughout his life and career, so that the book always maintains a broad canvas beyond that of its central figure. Whether you personally like or despise Cheney, anyone interested in American history during the last 50 years is encouraged to buy a copy of this book.

I read Cheney On One yesterday cover to cover in 4hs 13 minutes! I couldn't put it down. James Rosen takes the reader back in time to view moments in history that were important & changed the way we live! I was never a Cheney fan back in 2000 when he & Bush got elected. But after reading this book, I believe Dick Cheney was & his an American Patriot! He is no longer "Darth Vader" in my mind. He is a powerful man that has overcome early life failures. Cheney is one of the most successful Political Leaders of all time. James Rosen takes us into Cheney's "mind" & how he thinks! It's obvious that Cheney trusts Rosen & lets the reader get information no one else could ever get out of him! I feel like I got a history lesson reading this book! I suggest all students of history read this great book!!!

This is a book you can't just read once. I've read it twice and will read it again. With each reading you pick up more facts about one America's most historic figures. It's a fascinating read and Mr. Rosen is a skilled interviewer and an even more skilled author. Rosen and Cheney, together, make this book a classic.

An important read for all students of history.
