Blog postApocalyptic Romance. This one first same into being in 1976 or 77. The idea sat, waiting to be fleshed out for years and years. Back then there wasn't any use even trying to flesh out a story that had a interracial romance.
Some background is in order. Alaska came into the union as a Democratic state. Along came the Alaska pipeline. Many of those men, and they were mostly men, who came up to work on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline were from the oil patches of Oklahoma4 days ago Read more -

A book comes along that takes you by surprise. Strange Love is one of those that grabs you and won't let go. There's lots of the alien kidnapper stuff out there right now. This may begin with a kidnapping, but that's as far as the similarity goes. Intrigued, I had a hard time putting it down. Ms. Aguirre has a vivid imagination and I loved where it went. Blog postI couldn't resist getting all in the series. The very first one pictured here took me into the world of a cop with a big problem. His new partner, an ex marine canine, had equal problems. Blog postTom Bensonhas written a real winner here. A Scot gets something from the family lawyer that puts him on a plane to the lovely city of Prague after his father's death. Both his parents die in mysterious circumstances which have him seeking answers and possibly, revenge. I'm trying to be careful to not give out spoilers. Blog postI wasn't exactly sure what to make of the author's description when I was given the ARC for a review. Since I've read other books of his I liked, I was ready to give it a try.
This in my opinion is probably his best work to date. A story told from the end of his life looking back to the beginning, Ben has lived through a lot. The retired cowboy and his horse have gone through a lot.
The author told the story with a deft touch and did a fantastic job. If1 year ago Read more -
Blog postA good solid read. Two lonely, needy people don’t always mesh well. In this case, the result is a disaster. I wondered about the title and understood it when I finished the book. Fate had it in for these characters. The dark history of apartheid in South Africa forms the basis for much of the trouble, but Lydia is clueless. Blog postReview of CEO by Patricia E. Gitt I pay a lot of attention when I pick up a book in NetGalley. My time needs to be used wisely, I don’t have a lot to spare.
Still, I love to read and since I’ll read before I sleep anyway, it might as well do someone good. Hence, NetGalley and BookBub.

Blog postBook ReviewAs an unabashed Alaskan, I review book set in Alaska with a critical eye. I can't help it. This tale of gold, manipulation, love and loss did the best job yet of portraying the real Alaska (other than my books since I live here and I'm not afraid to shovel snow). If you read Ms. Pace's Amazon page, you'll get the shoveling reference.

Blog postI love cooking on a stove that's pumping out wood heat into the room. You can say what you want, nothing I know beats wood heat. Somehow, it warms a room the way nothing else can. Blog postFireweed flowers have reached the tip of the stalk! Those of us who live in Alaska know what that means. Fall is almost on us. A cold summer, I still kept the door open and let the fresh air in even when it was raining. I don't mind watching the rain come down.
I brought all but the geraniums in off the deck. It was too cold for the rest of my plants. And I'll probably close the upstairs window. I still have the heat off at night, it's easier to sleep.

Blog postSuch a fantastic day. I had to run over to my son's place to let the grand-dogs out. When he works it's 12 hour shifts and an hour commute both ways. On the way there and back motorcycles were out all over the place. And it was hot in the truck cab. I came close to turning on the AC. At home the dog wanted out to enjoy the weather. I obliged him, turned the heat off and opened the front door to enjoy the day. Wonderful to be able to do that. This morning the temperature is 39 degrees. Rea3 years ago Read more
