Editorial Reviews

Review

4 1/2 Star Review! "This return visit to Cavanaugh Island is a whirlwind trip that brings readers up to speed on beloved characters. There are still high drama, a few (legal) fireworks and plenty of hot romance. If this is our final trip to the island, it's a very fond farewell."―RT Book Reviews on CHERRY LANE

"In a tale that moves along smoothly with luscious, descriptive language, Alers arouses all the senses as the characters come alive in vibrant fashion...Magnolia Drive is a soothingly exciting addition to summer reading lists and will transport the reader to an idyllic setting that inspires exploration."―OnPointPress.net on Magnolia Drive

"I enjoyed watching these characters grow and to watch their love blossom was a beautiful thing. I would recommend this wonderful story to anyone that truly loves a good second chance love story."―Harlequin Junkie on Magnolia Drive

"4 ¿ stars! Realistic and well done."―RT Book Reviews on HAVEN CREEK

"HAVEN CREEK is a gentle, moving romance ... Alers' voice is tender, different from what I've been seeing on the romance market recently. She revives the romance of forty years ago and keeps the sexiness for modern readers."―Jandy's Books on HAVEN CREEK

"Haven Creek is a lovely, warm-hearted romance sure to please those who love a happily-ever-after style ending!"―Crystal Book Reviews on HAVEN CREEK

4 1/2 STAR REVIEW! "It's always a pleasure to discover little-known facts about racial history in America. Even better, the slow build to the love affair between the leads is believable and satisfying, on all levels. Sit back and enjoy!"
RT Book Reviews on ANGELS LANDING

"An excellent love story...a very loving and interesting summer read."―Publishers Weekly on ANGELS LANDING

I love Rochelle Alers' stories of the citizens of Cavanaugh Island. Since the first one, Sanctuary Cove, I have enjoyed traveling to this part of the country via the memorable characters, romantic encounters, intriguing storylines, and 'happy ever after' endings.
CHERRY LANE did not disappoint. Don't you just love a series that incorporates characters from previous stories and updates their status and manages to introduce a new character who fits right in. That's CHERRY LANE. The heroine, Devon Gilmore, escapes her 'big city' life in New York (at the invitation of one of the characters from a previous novel in the series) to regroup for a much needed change of scenery in the Lowcountry. As she begins to exhale from the family and relationship drama, she is introduced to a character (first introduced in an earlier novel in this series). The successful, good-looking Attorney David Sullivan is just the 'change of scenery' our heroine needs.
I loved everything about this novel, the setting, the dynamic cast of characters, the drama infused storyline and of course, the 'happy ever after' ending.
I highly recommend CHERRY LANE. It's a great read!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a while to get into this book. At first everything seemed very descriptive but clinical. It didn't seem as if the characters were really coming alive for me. Devon especially seemed like a robot to me at first. But then we start getting deeper into the book and getting both David and Devon's point of view which starts breathing some life into the two characters.

Once the plot besides the two meeting and getting to know each other starts moving, things move along quickly. Dull moments don't really happen after a certain point in this book and that's good. I enjoyed the plot and it was intriguing. It's amazing how far some will go.

While I took a while to connect to the characters in Cherry Lane, the writing was good and the plot itself was intriguing. It kept my attention and I enjoyed it.

Cherry Lane is a story about a woman trying to forge her way through some hard circumstances. Devon, through her subsequent mistakes and decisions starts to realize that she is a woman of strength. Devon also manages to learn lessons along the way that help her to become a better person for herself and her baby. When she meets David that is just the icing on the cake. Overall, Rochelle Alers created a story full of characters that have foibles like everyone does yet learning from those inadequacies enough to work toward becoming a better person despite the obstacles is what drew me to this story. I received an ARC of Cherry Lane by Rochelle Alers for an honest review. An enjoyable read.

I gave it 5 but wanted to give it a 10 the author mention character from the other families of Cavanaugh island and the other island's touch a little on each one and still focus on Devon and David. Devon family upbringing was inexcusable the way mother thought apparent to her friends and neighbors meant more to her than loving her children but the love of a good man and friend can change thing. Loved all this author book can't wait for the next one. I even purchase a beautiful song that was mention in the story name remarkable by jaheim and Terry dexter thanks for the book and song.

I enjoyed revisiting the folks of Cavanaugh Island. I enjoyed the getting to know Devon and David. They were both what the other needed even if they didn't know it. The characters were well developed and i so enjoyed the chemistry. It was great catching up with the other residents of the island and I can't wait to read more stories from the folks of Cavanaugh Island. Pick the up..great read.

My first Alers book. So good. Edutainment good. I learned a lot. I grew up in the southern flavor of Kentucky which shares some dishes with the Lowcountry but I learned more. The coupling of Devon and Daniel was magical and believable. This book speaks of family, community black life Charleston style, Gullah history and more. Now I have to read books 1-4 and the novella. I am a new fan.
